  • Nice photos!

Thanks for posting the link - I didn't know about the Flickr collection. And thanks for allowing us a chat space while TT is down, Mary Beth.

  • AAAACCCCKKKK!

    One word: Withdrawal!!!!!

Seriously, thanks for giving us this space to get our TT fix, Mary Beth. Hope everything is back up and running soon.

  • New plan:

I was thinking that if I hit F5 enough times it would come back.

  • re: outage

Hey, so long as TT doesn't come back online in pepto-pink, all is well.

  • Withdrawal is Painful!

A couple of weeks ago my job blocked TT. So I've been running to the computer as soon as I get home to get my daily fix. And now this. Aaaarrrggghhh!

Not complaining.. just needed to get that out. I know you folks understand. :-)

  • Life without TT - ugh!

I had all sorts of things I was ready to come post about, and here I sit, with no TT. I suppose I'm going to have to resort to talking to real life people. I hope everyone is having a lovely evening.

  • Haiku

    Table Talk is down

Snow falls in the windy night

    I miss you, TT.

  • Think of it as camping

Look what we can do now! Okay, it's not TT, but it's a little home away from home for a few hours.

My is paltry and out of date. But for fun, I will upload later a pic or two from my eighties era. Suffice to say: I think Tammy Faye would have told me to tone down the makeup.

If you can't have TT, at least mock my Human League phase.

  • Meant to say

My FLICKR PAGE etc etc. Note to self: use that preview feature.

  • TT is down and who gives a rip about Salon's poor articles?

I'll ponder on just what kind of people think a blog is the same thing as "letters to the editor," then I'll think about how little the articles in Salon mean to me any more as opposed to how much the TT community means to me.

Looking at the left hand column this morning, I find there's nothing I want to read. At all. So I guess I'll practice my bass a while before heading off to the studio, something I woud have done whether or not TT was up.

  • Flickr

Mary Beth, love those 80s shots!

And thank whoever had the idea to point to the Flickr group. It's great fun, glad to have more folks there. 8 new members of the group in about two weeks!

  • TT is back.

If you still are still seeing the status page then it is just due to slow DNS.

You should be able to get to TT via:

    tabletalk2.salon.com

  • Shouldn't it be back already?

Or did I misread Wolfy's (I presume) note? I think it said 23 (or 21?)UTC to 15 UTC - that was at least three hours ago.

Oh, and still no notice on the Salon mainpage. Not that anyone read THAT anymore...

Hah - barely had time to type that and I see it should be up - must go flush my cache...

  • Cereal post...

... to say that it *seems* to be up, at the adress Mary Beth gave on the status page, but I can't log in. Guess I must fo flush some cookies too.

  • More flakes and puffs:

Couldn't get whatever was answering at the tabletalk2.salon.com adress to log me in. Luckily the regular adress works just fine now.

  • What's up with the tabletalk2

Earlier I was able to get onto the regular tabletalk, but left to get some work done. Coming back I get the page that says that the DNS updates are slow, and use tabletalk2, but I can't log in to that page.

If I got on earlier today, why not now? Also, what's with not being able to log in via tabletalk2?

  • The DNS situation

One of our tech folks kindly placed the pointer to tabletalk2.salon.com as a way to get to TT, but unfortunately it is not possible to log in when viewing the content that way. The webcrossing software can be read that way, but login links have to be to the "real" name according to the software.

Sometimes on past maintainance downtimes we have redirected instantly using Apache. That's a web server software we can run on the TT box when the Web Crossing software has to be turned off for some task such as repacking. Then we turn on TT and we are back instantly.

In this case, we had to reassign the Domain Name to another machine that could redirect to teh status message, sicne the actual hardware had to be offline for the tests.

The results were maddeningly good news/bad news. "The good news, TT old pal, is that your xrays and cat scan came out perfectly normal. The bad news is that we still don't know why you've been having those fainting spells."

    On to the next theory...
