Letters to the Editor

Should we judge Barack Obama by the Rev. Wright? One member of Salon's reader community, Table Talk, explains why not.
  • Answer and Question

    Your frustration over guilt by association is understandable. It is not, however, unique to African Americans. Wright is being criticized for statements he has made and positions he holds. Not because he is black.

    To answer one of your questions;

    1) Shall I stop watching Keith Olbermann because all those General Electric jet engines are killing innocent Iraqis?

    Answer: No. You should stop watching pompous keith because; a) he's pompous, and b) GE is aiding Iran.

    You State:

    Any mention of Reverend Jeremiah Wright will signal to me everything I need to know about that person's moral and intellectual capacities.

    Question:

    When obama mentions wright in speeches and books he has written, what does that tell you about obama's moral and intellectual capacities?
