I don't think there's one person out there who denies that 9/11 happened; the missing buildings are very convincing.

So who are these people you are talking about? Are you talking about people who believe that guided missiles or shaped charges took out the World Trade Center? Or, are you talking about the very large number of people who believe that the story that's told in the 9/11 Commission's report is not the whole story and some of it is false?

You'd be foolish not to doubt the 9/11 Commission's report. It contradicts itself; it was grossly underfunded, started a year after the attack, and the co-chairman of the Commission themselves admitted that they didn't have the resources to complete the report and accused the administration of obstruction.

So what really happened? Well, I don't know; I suspect that the actual story is something like the official story but we simply haven't been given enough information.

But you don't know either, Mr. Manjoo. Unless you have some secret source of information you haven't revealed to us, you have the same partial and partially incorrect data we do.

So stop acting like you're the grown-up and all of these people who have serious doubts about the government's story are the children. If you presented some of the serious critics of the government's story instead of your usual crop of paranoids, it'd be a much better story.

Why is it that many people feel that they can sneer and denigrate those who, for very good reasons, don't believe the official conspiracy theory?

There are a lot of problems with the official narrative. Some of you just want to write it all off with a breezy, "it was incompetence". If that is your explanation, then there is a LOT of incompetence in America.

Farhad chose the weakest link to attack, letsroll911 is a pathetic site. The truth community has a lot of people in it, just like in the "denier" community. Some truthers are barking mad, some are just plain stupid, but there are many people who are quite sane, highly intelligent and educated. It used to be said that there are no pilots, engineers or scientists who have a problem with the official lie. Now there are many.

And the pictures are valuable Farhad, as are the videos, and there are "facts" embedded therein. For instance by watching the videos it is possible to ascertain that 1, 2, and 7 went down at freefall speeds, impossible if there was not a controlled demolition. And from the pictures we can see that a 757 made a small hole in the pentagon and that the wings, and tail, which should have been sheered off and left on the lawn, don't exist. The pictures also show us 12 foot wide hole in the ground in Pennsylvania into which another plane simply disappeared.

So spare me the vituperation and stick to logical arguments.

For me, I would just like to know where the interceptors were that day? And a few other questions, but I will leave that for later.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but I cannot stand it when Farhad Manjoo writes about 9/11. I'm not going to waste my morning energy detailing the many reasons why Manjoo is so tragically, pathetically blind to the truth or bother speculating on why. I don't care why. I just pity him.

I'm not going to read Salon anymore until I've been advised that Manjoo is gone. He had his chance. His writing on the culture of high tech is actually entertaining, but his ignorant, biased writing on 9/11 is such garbage that it brings me to the point of becoming angry. Manjoo really pisses me off -- at Salon.

Just to be completely clear about my position on this, I don't what brought the WTC towers down on that fateful day, but I do know that it most certainly was not caused by anything that crashed into them that morning and it most definitely was not due to any kerosene fires. That physics I am sure of.

I'll just avoid Salon's little 9/11 truth denier entirely.

I saw building 7 fall when nothing hit it. I saw the twin towers fall at free fall speed when over half of each building stood undamaged below it. I saw sparks fly and squibs detonate as the buildings fell. Now I see anyone who even raises the question of what really happened slammed in the press.

nothing wrong with the article as such except that the author neglects to mention that much of the truth about 911 as revealed in 'Loose Change' and the other films is based on eyewitness accounts in interviews that took place on street level as the 'event' was going on. so in my view it's not only about biased interpretation of the video itself but of the sum of testimony, the interviews given by people who were in the building, interviews given by the firefighters and other rescue workers, even the guys who were in the basement levels of the two towers shortly before impact. not to mention the fact that demolition experts have also given what we maybe could agree is reliable testimony to the facts as they are, ie the buildings coming down at freefall speed, molten metal being found in the footprints long after the jet fuel is gone, etc.

each time one of these articles come out that purports to debunk the 'truth movement', it makes it more apparent to me that some people just cannot del with the *TRUTH'. the truth is that there are more holes in the 'official' story that the supposed ' conspiracy theory'. the 911 commission neglected the issues i have just named and even though the crime of the century was committed before our very eyes, no one was punished for their acquiescence or incompetence.

one more thing...dick and shrub meeting together, in order to keep their side of the story straight? remember that.
