Once again, not on a Mac. Simply connect old computer to new computer, launch old computer in Target Disc mode, and run Migration Assistant. All settings transfer, all Apps (that you select) transfer, all users transfer. Depending on how much you have to transfer, it's effortless and fast. Even my smug old grandma could do it, and we all know how cool she'll look in the process.
Not debating the pros or cons of trading up in one year vs five years - just saying.
