    why we think public phone users are obnoxious

    There is public space and there is private space. For what ever reason, there is a gut feeling among most people that phone conversations belong in the private space.

    The ancients understood this which is why phone booths had doors on them.

    We can't help feeling repulsed and disgusted. It's like encountering someone urinating on the sidewalk.
