You’ll now be able to easily spot a car
Sweet! As soon as it's available, I'll be able to find out where I parked my car.
If you look at the current Google images you see that sensitive US government sites have limited resolution. One of these sites is Area 51. Google seems to have an agreement with the US government to limit the resolution of certain areas.
I should have followed the link to the Area 51 image. In the past it was limited. I can see that this is no longer the case. So I stand corrected.
Mr. Farivar appears to back to his old quality of work.
This is worthy of a blog posting? Seriously?
I challenge him to point any spot on the earth wehre cars will be visible with the new .5m -- or even .4m -- resolution that were NOT visible at .6m.
Cars are more than .6m wide and more than .6m long. It's not hard to spot cars in Google Maps.
Here's the honest question: what will be possible -- or even easier -- to find with Google Maps due to the improved resolution. What difference will this really make?
In other words, from a mapping perspective, what is the difference between 2' and 1.77'? We're talking about 4" out of 24".
If the resultion were to get down to .1m, that would be a big deal. But this is not.
