One-minute review: Jawbone 2 headset

A new Bluetooth is supposed to cancel noise, but all that's canceled is the conversation you want to hear.

What do I say?

Ain't no such beast.

You can often hear me saying "Bluetooth is the worst thing that ever happened to inter-personal communication."

And it's true. You want people to actually hear what you're saying? Deal with a wire.

I love iMuffs.

A real headset that allows me to answer the phone while I'm listening to something else. Otherwise having the bud sticking out my ear doing nothing is just a G-Thug fashion accessory.

Motorola S9

Stereo inaudible except to the wearer

Cancels outside noise

Picks up calls automatically

Easily switches between music and phone

Pairs easily with your smartphone

Back-of-the-neck-over-the-ear form factor

Goes for 5-6 hours on one charge

$80, maybe less

Do I like it? From my cold, dead hands...

I don't own any Motorola stock, either.

Different Experience

I don't use a wireless headset, although I had an old Jabra model that was pretty decent back when I was working and found it useful in my office. Now, the only time I use my phone on the move is in the car (after pulling over and stopping) and my car's equipped with bluetooth.

My closest friend bought a new Jawbone a couple of months ago after doing a lot of research online about which had the least background noise. His only complaint was that it had an unusually long learning curve, getting used to it. But once he did, he loves it. We talk a lot and I can tell you that the noise cancellation, at least on this end, is miles better than anything he used before.
