Please define "sickening and sad."
You think it's sickening and sad that a father is creating some spontaneous joy and sharing a priceless moment of bonding with his little boy?
Wow, I'm kinda speechless.

What you said, Quite Type.
Astounding.

Laughter is frowned upon and shall be corrected. Up The Revolution.

Up the Revolution? Up YOUR'S!
For once I agree with Farhad. With one exception - someone I know personally - every individual at YouTube HQ who voted on these winners has their head straight up their ass. Just go and look at the runners up. It'll literally blow your mind.
And I say this as a dedicated YouTuber. That site, and the majority of those who run it, are seriously fucked. There's recently been a mini-scandal over their "Sketchies" contest, where it turned out there were only a handful of judges lording it over the whole contest in direct contradiction to claims that there would be many.
And then there's the hater phenomenon (click my name to see what I'm talking about).

"Sickening and sad"?
I'm no child-worshipper, but damn, isn't that a bit much? "Sickening" is in the eye of the beholder I suppose, but even in the depths of my black cynical heart I'll be damned if I can figure out why it's "sad" that a father adores his son.
-
Farhad, when's the last time you made someone that happy?
While I agree that the Laughing Baby Genre may not make for award winning videos, it's definitely entertaining (or there wouldn't be so many of them on Youtube). And if it makes complete strangers laugh, why wouldn't it make the Dad laugh? How can you find that kind of pure unadulterated laughter sad?

You Tube Scroll: find your own gem
i was sitting watching the you tube scroll of "now being played" vids the other week and came across someone watching this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKCVS57j284
utterly charming and perhaps the best rendition of the song i've ever witnessed in my life.
another time, i was watching the scroll and found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aC-KOYQsIvU
you tube can be fun when there is nothing else to do and you want to find something interesting.
so screw the awards.

I hope that wasn't you. That was possibly the most tedious thing I have ever wasted a few minutes of my life on (& I couldn't get through more than half of it).
Let me ask you something. Why on earth would you possibly expend one erg of effort worrying about some nonsense bullshit 'award' anyway? Is anyone's life that shallow? As far as I'm concerned, YouTube can award a blank screen the greatest video ever made. Have you ever watched Atomfilms? Most of that is complete crap too. Some of it is rather good but most of it is crap. And that's crap that people actually set out to make.
