  • big deal

I suggest the outraged open their Yellow Pages to find literally hundreds of similar businesses.

"I was shocked, shocked to find a politician dallying with a prostitute!"

Perhaps Salon should do a more serious piece about the value of Spitzer's prosecutions of the crooks on Wall Street who were involved in the types of practices that fleeced shareholders of their investments? Sadly, this far more important work is now going to be ignored, as the political establishment has found a way to punish the man who has actually bucked the system instead of just talking meaninglessly about change.

  • Web design

Yes, this reminds me a bit of the full page advertisements in airline flight magazines that offer to find wives for busy executives who are so busy that they have to outsource their spousal recruitment activities to an agency. The price is never mentioned, because a real gentleman (i.e rich sucker) knows these things are priceless.

So all this arty-farty crap is just designed to help separate the sucker from his dollar, euro, or shekel.

The diamonds awarded for refinement and classiness are of course in no way whatsoever connected to blondeness, titty size, or youth.

Thanks for this insight into the lifestyles of the rich and now infamous.

Our goal is to make life more peaceful, balanced, beautiful and meaningful.

Let blue balls be a thing of the past when you contemplate our selection of Picasso's blue period prints, which you may order at time of service. We can also have your print framed, signed, sealed, and delivered to the penitentiary of your choice.

  • best post ever . . .

    . . . for The Machinist.

Now, does anyone really buy the story that Spitzer was tripped up by currency transaction reporting? I suspect warrantless wiretapping by Bush's Justice Department.

Keep an eye on exactly how this was uncovered - I think it will be interesting.

  • My fantasy...

is that somehow Spitzer is stinging the data-mining practices of the Justice Dept. I know it's crazy, but I can dream can't I?

  • No, Farhad, Spitzer is the one paying the debt now

Considering that this did not happen for Spitz -- peaceful? balanced? -- he'd seem to have good cause to ask for his money back.

The dude made his bones in politics as a vengeful prosecutor. He took the peace and balance away from a lot of other human beings before he lost his own.

He had it coming to him and this is exactly what he deserves.

  • @Farhad

Not to give you a hard time, but complaining that an escort service web site's graphics are clunky is like going to see a prostitute and complaining afterward that you didn't feel loved.

Farhad: "best of all! -- it offers gift certificates. (Hey, maybe Spitz was just buying something nice for a friend? Maybe a certain former president....?)"

What are you implying about Jimmy Carter?

Farhad: "Alas, Kristen, the "American, petite, very pretty brunette" that court papers say rendezvoused with Spitzer, is not listed on the site. But the governor is alleged to have paid less than $5,000 for four hours' time, which would indicate that Kristen rated three or four stars."

Maybe he got her half-off? (Yes, I am trying for a pun here.)

Farhad: "Considering that this did not happen for Spitz -- peaceful? balanced? -- he'd seem to have good cause to ask for his money back."

(Or more accurately, his and his wife's money back...)

  • This is b.s. What is this topic doing in this person's tech column?

What a crock of sh*t. Why is this columnist wasting further news space reporting this? You examined the prostitutes web site?

Either go find some real news or go play with your iPhone, doof.

  • Wonkette cuts right to the good stuff

Gross. The woman who's a "six diamond" choice looks like the aftermath of a trailer that crashed into a plastic surgery center.

  • What I Want To Know Is...

...what were the feds doing investigating a local brothel?

Can you say "Dan Siegelman redux"?

    I knew you could.

Now, does anyone really buy the story that Spitzer was tripped up by currency transaction reporting?

Given that Tush Limberger was busted the same way, through currency transaction reporting, I'm tentatively buying the story.

Every single person in the US has their bank account spied on in this manner thanks to the ever-so-popular drug war.

Freedom is the one thing you cannot have unless you let everyone else have it also.

  • Miss Hawaiian Tropic 2006?

You link to Maya's seven diamond profile which reveals her to be a former Miss Hawaiian tropic. Head to the HT site and you will find a pretty, petite brunette named Kristen who was Miss Hawaiian Tropic Texas 2005 and the national champ in 2006. You think there's a connection?

In any case, we needn't jabber on about deja vu. People have a deep and abiding need for sex for all sorts of reasons. Men in power seem to have even more than the usual yen - more like an addiction. But that doesn't mean they have to risk everything for adultery (especially the illegal variety).

Remember Jimmy Carter lusting after women in his heart? People scoffed at him, but you know, he was honest and he had some self control. Oh, for those days... Or even for the days when this stuff was done privately, when the wire-taps were all about black-mail (Bobby Kennedy and MLK, eg) rather than high profile prosecutions (that's meant ironically, if you can't tell). Does this really serve the public interest? What a nightmare for everyone involved. We can psychoanalyze all we want, but it's pretty basic - sex is essential in all its permutations.

Maybe if Spitzer had the kind of moral focus of a Jimmy Carter he could have bested his desires. But Jimmy Carter is a much more temperate man than Gov. Spitzer who seems to have a problem with self-discipline and moderation and a need for risk-taking. Sometimes it's served him (and us) well. But then this. No condoms? His poor wife. God, I feel for her.

Sex isn't the real issue here. It's hubris - but sex is a great excuse to go after him. And I'm afraid Spitzer is going to suffer the wrath of the gods just as surely as any Greek tragic hero. That said, I hope he tries to fight it out. There's so much sexual hypocrisy in the world - how many of the people screaming for impeachment can claim an utterly clear conscience? Precious few, I'm sure. it's bred in the bone, a fallibility for men and women alike (I'm female, fyi).
