In Maryland, online activists fuel a win for conservative Republicans and for liberal Democrats.
  • The web makes for more wingnuts, on both ends

It's difficult to argue for a course of moderate left or moderate right on the web. You get called names, you get banned from boards. You cannot say, as I have on many boards that I have been banned from, that "gay marriage is a bad issue for democrats," which it very very clearly is. There are organized posses on boards which TR, and these do TR parties on moderates. So, what happens is that the moderates are eliminated, and you are left with the wacks.

This happens on many boards. On some boards, like myDD, Clinton supporters lie terribly. You call them on the lies, you get dumped.

So, the web is a force for producing more and more wacks. This is due to selection pressures.
