Back in the 70’s, when I was in engineering school at one of the top programs in the U.S., we had a lot of foreign students – Korean, Chinese, Indian, Arabs. They were some of the most brilliant minds in my classes, and unlike me and my fellow Americans they were not native English speakers. Scabs – what a nasty word – how are these workers breaking your strike? You aren’t in a union. You are just experiencing capitalism at its finest…You don’t have to like it. But your anger is misplaced. It should go towards the company executives who chase lower wages while giving themselves big bonuses for cost improvements and operational synergies. And some anger should go towards employees who think what they do is worth an inflated salary. Tech had its day at the trough, now it’s time to step away and accept the consequences.
