She wasn't on a plane
She was not getting on a plane,
She went outside and was a danger to no-one, on a traffic island, no-one except herself, for being a kid, and not taking this terrorism stuff seriously,
Apparently she is not the 29 percent of the Republican base, who wear depends to get through a day in terrorist USA.
And… by Our United States Homeland Security Trained Apperati’ s OWN ADMISSION, she was lucky to still be alive.
At least they were honest, that they really wanted to perforate her to brighten their day.
You may recall that the 'Head of Security' at Logan who let the hijackers board the airplanes on 9/11 had been appointed with zero relevant background- his only qualification was that he had chauffered the Speaker of the Mass legislature- and in Mass patronage rules supreme. That is also the case in the Boston Police Dept- every time one drives the streets you will observe dozens of police wasting their (over)time because of an obviously idiotic rule requiring that Police be present at every red cone. When patronage rules supreme, the courage to speak your own common sense is slapped down- everyday life in the patronage state is a lie, and the Boston and Logan Police have learned that they should remain silent about the Emperor's clothes. Not everybody on the force is stupid- most just have to pretend to be to keep their job.
The words "fake bomb" implies a device that has been intentionally designed to look like a bomb. Simply because something can be mistaken for a bomb, does not mean it was a fake bomb. By posting a headline saying a woman was arrested at Logan for wearing a fake bomb, implies a woman walked into the airport wearing something she knowingly thought could be percieved as a bomb, ie there was an intent, either to terrorize, make a point etc etc.
But in this case she was wearing something that was mistaken for a bomb. Not the same thing. I understand that from the point of view of security the intial reaction (detain and asses) would be identical. But once it becomes clear that the device was not intedned to be a bomb or fake bomb, to continue to report it as such substantially clouds the veracity of the report.
Yes, it is a semantic difference, but semantics cloud our perceptions, and the media's complicity makes people much less likely to question the particulars of the case.
Those people who are accusing the police and security personal of being dump are the truly moronic individuals; I simply can’t believe the rampant stupidity in these comments.
GET REAL – even though a close look at the device reveals it to be most likely harmless, security officers do not have the luxury of second guessing things that are obviously out of the ordinary. They have to act instantly; especially to someone with apparent homemade electronics strapped to their body! (You idiots that don’t realize that timing and detonation devices are usually made from breadboard electronics; you’re the ones that need to get an education beyond 007 movies). Using an innocent looking girl or child for terrorism is certainly not unheard of either, and is exactly why security officers are trained to treat them just like anyone else.
No matter what anyone thinks about the officer’s reactions, any mature person should have known better than to walk into an airport with wires, a battery, and an assembled electronics breadboard attached to their person (it’s just plain foolish). And if she isn’t made an example of, we’ll just see more idiotic pranksters trying to push the limits even farther.
Please, someone must have enough brains to understand this!
"And if she isn’t made an example of, we’ll just see more idiotic pranksters trying to push the limits even farther."
Please post evidence that she was attempting to pull a prank.
Next month I'm heading to a convention in Philadelphia (I live in San Diego). There will be two masquerades, and I have tickets to both. My costume involves a fairly elaborate crackling lightning motif - wires, batteries, an inverter, phospholuminescence, you name it. How the heck am I going to get it there?
Amtrak?
Fedex to your hotel. Better anyway, you don't have to carry it or have anyone check it out in your luggage and you can pack it more securely.
Speeder-
You’re correct, she may not have been a prankster herself; my point is that it will certainly encourage others to test the limits.
Well, This is Scary

In a Casket you moron, what are you a cop?
Speeder, try google and look up a few articles on this. They all mention that she had some putty like substance on her hand. In addition it was mentioned that "The employee asked about the plastic circuit board on her chest, and Simpson walked away without responding, Pare said." -Boston Globe.
If that's true that's pretty clear she was trying to get busted and it wasn't an "accident" or "misunderstanding."
Does everyone just post on gut reactionism???
Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn’t yet read that information.
–Sorry speeder, looks as if there is some evidence that she was up to no-good.
Your going to defend this woman? Face it because of 9/11 their are somethings you just have to know are just plain wrong. She might have just as well wore a shirt that said "shoot here I'm a moron". If she represents our best and brightest-"Houston we have a problem!!!"
Yea we do, were trying to connect to our Emperor on his own terms.
I feel it in my gut,
You are so scared, of what, you stand more chance of dying from lightening, stairs, or a self inflicted gunshot wound, than any terrorist,
And this applies anywhere in the world,
Except Baghdad circa 200X
Reality is just so-ssss-s-so incomprehensible to you, No?
