In the past, before the widespread use of the Internet, particularly the Web with its multimedia contents, porn decided a few battles. Actually it was only one, between VHS, Betamax and Video 2000, before that it was just the decisive factor to acceptance of a new technology [printing, photography, even graffiti in ancient times]. But why would anybody pay $ 20 or $ 40 for an HD/Blu-Ray porn disc?
Most people will just use downloads from the Internet, some may get their kicks from cheap DVDs; High Def is simply too expensive. Anothe rproblem is high definition - not only would that call for much better [hence expensive] production, it would still show things in a crisp sharpness we do not want to see in such a movie. Let's not forget that porn uses documentary esthetics to tell an essentially phantastic story [if one can call it that]. The moment you dumb down the quality, why go high def at all?
Current numbers [see The Digital Bits] point to an early win of BD over HD-DVD. Current developments for porn on high def are just a 'me too' phenomenon: High def comes, so we better get going; there might be a market.
In the past porn control VHS & DVD but with internet access just about everywhere you look. Porn is now downloaded to PSP, Ipod,or any MP4 formate device. Porn is nolonger restracted to your home. Blu-ray won,
