  • Let me get this straight

Data's incredibly expensive, and visual voicemail and YouTube don't work. So, basically, the hack allows you to use your iPhone without any of the real benefits of using the iPhone. Why bother?

  • cestmoi123 asks, "Why bother?"

    To which I respond:

"Why do you love The Man?"

  • Of course, you could use...

AT&T without any elaborate hacks that, in essence, disable the effectiveness of your new iPhone.

From AT&T's web site: With AT&T Free2Go Wireless prepaid service, you control your wireless spending while enjoying the freedom and flexibility of having a wireless phone. That's because you pay as you go without the commitment--no monthly bill, no credit check, no deposit, and no annual contract. The Free2Go package comes with everything you need or service works on your existing AT&T Wireless phone.

Rates are about $10/month more than the regular iPhone service sans long term contract and any termination fee.

  • Some benefits remain

In response to the first post, it sounds like this would be a great way to use the phone if you are often using your phone at wi-fi hotspots. Now all the hackers need to do is put skype on it and you would only need to use pay-as-you-go when you're not around wifi.
