Hannity's economy: Always blame the Dems

Obama owns the recession now, says the Fox host. Just like Bush owned his downturn in 2001? No, wait --

The letters thread is now closed.

worst job ever

Man I would hate to be the staffer or intern at Mediamatters whose job it is to comb through Hannity transcripts all day.

How the Hannity Works

Everything that has gone wrong since Obama decided to run is Obama's fault. Everything that went wrong before then was Clinton's fault, except for the things that were Carter's fault.

Well, he DOES have a point...

You know it is Obama's economy now, and the Dems 100%. Not the fault of Bush and Repubs anymore. Obama owns it all and it is becoming a large stinking mass of crap. Obama's poll numbers are dropping fast. The market is down AGAIN and housing, whew! That's a horror story.

I want to ask clear thinking liberals, Obama supporters, what they would be saying if Bush were in charge now and the economy was this bad??? Hmmm...I think it would be 24/7 MSM coverage about how this is the 2nd depression, how Bush is Hoover, et al. The thunderous roar would be constant. But now that O is in charge...chirp, chirp, chirp, NOTHING!!! Why?! Because the MSM is now the state propaganda bureau, Obama News Network. This is what happens when the MSM allows their ideology to trump their better judgement. They are in bed with Obama and will surpress any and all news critical of their messiah. Pitiful and corrupt.

2010 is fast approaching and if things stay this bad Pelosi can kiss her speakership goodbye. You can spin this all you want but like Carville said back in the 1990's, "IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!".

@serafin

Hey, look at the bright side. Aren't you happier blaming Obama than you would be making excuses for McCain?

Monday, June 22, 2009 12:52 PM

@Serafin

Respectfully, beg to differ. I hear plenty of criticism from liberals about Obama's policies and decisions. With Conservatives the criticism is non-stop, inaccurate, and inane (cf/ Sean Hannity). And this 'MSM' business misses the mark also. Is the MSM that you despise the one saying things you disagree with? Meanwhile the MSM that you agree with is not the MSM because.... Fill in the blank here.

"Because the MSM is now the state propaganda bureau, Obama News Network. This is what happens when the MSM allows their ideology to trump their better judgement. They are in bed with Obama and will surpress any and all news critical of their messiah. Pitiful and corrupt."

I am a clear thinking centrist democrat..... Now you tell me that you can't replace "MSM" with "Fox News", and "Obama" with "Bush" in the above statement and it be true during the prior administration.

Why the hypocrisy?

@Serafin

"You know it is Obama's economy now, and the Dems 100%. Not the fault of Bush and Repubs anymore."

I think you missed the point of the blog (or are just hungering for attention). How can it be "Obama's economy now" on June 22, while one of your fellow travelers loudly proclaimed it was still Clinton's economy on August 20, 2001? Shoot, I've even seen some of your fellow travelers whining that the 1990s economy was really courtesy of Reagan. So where's the dividing line?

The reality, to those of us who don't see the world as simply black or white, of course, is that we're somewhere in between.

Monday, June 22, 2009 01:07 PM

Spinning this won't help...

At what point does Obama take ownership? Bush is like his little invisible troll, sitting up there on his shoulder, taking the blame for everything. Obama has to suck it up and take responsibility for the economy NOW, it's his. Hannity is just pointing out the obvious.

It's time for Obama to be a man, not some puss. He is in charge and has to act like it. This blaming Bush for all his trouble is getting lame and sad and scary. Suck it up, Obama!

Monday, June 22, 2009 01:07 PM

hannity

Its not always blame the Dems. Its blame the folks who fouled up the economy - and it always the Dems.

Monday, June 22, 2009 01:25 PM

I Understand Your Frustration

But you are correct in that calling attention to Hannity's hypocrisy is a futile task.

If Obama personally extraced a lost kid from the bottom of a well Hannity would find some way to criticize Obama for doing so.

This would all simply be funny if it weren't for the fact that millions of people watch Fox News every day and take it as objective gospel truth.

Salon's economy: Always blame the Reps

Will you please grow up!

Monday, June 22, 2009 01:35 PM

@serafin

Are you gonna respond to some of the responses to your first post or are you going to keep repeating variations of that post using different fuckin' words?

Respond to Keystoneposter. The article was about the fact that Republicans always take credit for good economic news and blame previous Democratic administrations for bad economic news. What do you say to that? Do you think Reagan should have been taken the blame for the economy five months into his first term or was he a "puss" for blaming it on Carter? The unemployment rate shot up to over 10 percent in 1982, was that Reagan's fault?

Monday, June 22, 2009 01:54 PM

Sorry

but the bottom line is, once Obama spent all that money and bailed out all those banks and companies, he took control of the economy and is now responsible for it.

You can blame Bush for the start of this economy but eventually even those die-hards will have to admit that Obama owns it now.

BTW, at the end of this year, when the MASSIVE inflation from all this spending hits...and it lasts for at least 6 months into the year, just remember that Bush didn't spend ALL the money himself and in fact only spent a small FRACTION of the spending being done now.

-- Then you must be in favor of the fairness doctrine, right? 50% representation from each side, you know that, right? It's only fair to give the cons half the time, let me know when you want to go out and fight for that, ok?

Monday, June 22, 2009 02:23 PM

@Serafin

No doubt, the economy is in Obama's control, and any liberal/democrat apologist is treading into deeper waters in defending him now that he is almost 6 months being in office.

I've been finding that those on Obama's "Team" have been more critical of him than those on Bush's "team" have.

The point here is that Hannity has applied one standard in judging Bush about the economy (blame Clinton) and a whole other when judging Obama (blame Obama). ON that note, when is this prick Hannity going to get waterboarded?
