A life well spent, reviewing Neal Stephenson

"Anathem" does not disappoint. Unless you have a problem with philosophy

No Laura Miller interview?

Both interview links go to your own interview. Not to make you blush or anything, but it's hardly fair to only show us the, ummm, *inferior* one :-)

crypto?

aw, man, no review of Cryptonomicon? that book was so wonderful, it's probably worth re-reading and reviewing it in retrospect. c'mon, you'll have at least one reader for that review. :-)

"I don't want to hear the lizard story, Sergeant!"

I can't remember. Do we ever find out the lizard story?

Thursday, September 11, 2008 12:28 PM

@ Outrider, yes we do

Yes, we do hear the lizard story. Bobby Shaftoe keeps repeating the story about giant lizards eating people, which I think turned out to be true (komodo dragons/monitor lizards scavenging among the dead soldiers washed up on the beach) but in his morphine haze even he wasn't sure that it was real.

Shaftoe's scream at the dragon

on the back of McArthur's kimono, is another image that I'm particularly found of.

I love that people here like these books.

Thanks for the links.
