.... but will it still be India?
India and Indians adapted to all previous invaders up to and including the British. The end result was the creation of an Indianized version of whatever culture the invaders brought. Sort of like the Americanization of yoga, bagels and pizza.
The current version of India's colonization is very different. It is corporate-sponsored, delivered unfiltered via the new media and it is being uncritically adopted by the young. The result is that local languages are dying and along with them a whole tradition and way of life. The old ethos is being replaced by materialism and faux nationalism.
Would Gandhi recognize today's Americanized urban India as the India that he fought for and dreamt of? I think not.
This is a bit off topic, but another bit challenge to India is outsourcing. I spotted an article in the Times of India about two apparent suicides among IT workers.

On top of the usual stress in IT jobs, add in having to work nights to match US time. As someone who has been outsourced, I know from personal experience meeting the demands of an uncaring client is more stressful than when you work directly for an employer.
