Why is Obama supporting "limited" offshore drilling?

Maybe it's because he understands the big picture -- compromises may be necessary along the way to a sustainable energy future.

    YES - it disarms the Republicans

    Stupid Americans understand stupid simplicity - drill now = cheap gas tomorrow. That's the Republican message, and even though that's a lie - the stupid people don't care. so YES Obama needs to agree with this - he won't do it when he gets in office - he'll make the oil companies sue the millions of acres it already owns yet REFUSE to drill on. but all that takes too long to explain to the stupid people who voted for bush twice.
