It just isn't going to work

Pumping money into the U.S. economy is like pouring water into a leaky bucket. The huge U.S. trade deficit guarantees that all the extra money will disappear overseas very quickly.

I thought I would buy a fancy electronic musical workstation with our stimulus check...

...for work and for fun... But, our check is in the bank; we will spend it on rent and groceries, because we lost our family's good job.

Do you remember, months ago, when Andrew Leonard asked us how we would spend our stimulus checks? Have your circumstances changed as ours have? Has your actual spending changed from what you expected a few months ago?
