This is kind of the tip of the iceberg," he said. "Because we are a prison system we tend not to advertise these things, but God knows we need the good press."
When one to two prisoners die per week from illnesses or conditions that are not normally fatal on the outside to people with even the most minimal access to medical care -- when prison doctors have claimed they've worked under more sanitary conditions with better equipment in third world refugee camps ---
yes, the public can get a little judgmental.
However, not judgmental enough to FIX the problem. The state legislature just failed to pass a measure designed to bring California state prison medical care up to third world refugee camp standards.
One or two random sick prisoners will still be getting the death penalty without due process every week -- but at least they've got solar power.
Woo hoo break out the champagne.
I mean seriously. One to two deaths per week.
Imagine some poor sucker getting the death penalty for flunking his first rehab.
But it'll be solar powered. Woo hoo.
