Maybe not. But the New York Times still should have talked to some organic farmers to get their opinion on how to prevent a Malthusian future of fertilizer scarcity.
  • I tend to think that the Green Revolution would not have happened with pigshit alone

    Because pigshit was readily available before 1955. Before then hundreds of millions of people routinely lived with famine. Hmm maybe they were using the wrong pigs. In impoverished countries where a dollar was worth something, I would have to surmise if there were effective efficient ways for farmers to survive w/o spending that dollar on chemicals they would have or at the least someone would have shown them how. But I guess that doesn't mesh with the the theory that everything under the sun is some dark plot by The Man to keep his bootheel on the throats of brown people.
