sure, you can require that all factories in China pay the equivalent of a German auto worker union wage but you're going to be the one either to pay for it in capital costs through inflationary borrowing, or, you're going to be one to pay 4 or 5 or 10x for that same object that you do now. I'm sure the Salon readers will assert from the get go that they simply would do without, but you should read all the labels in your house and tell me which of the thousands of products you won't have and/or can't afford. I would have no problem if you paid $20 for toothpaste. But if you want to destroy the middle class in America, you couldn't think of a better way than that.
