when all the intellectually lazy who follow the psuedo scientists finally have to admit that global warming is caused by the sun.
Oh, and although America may be the biggest consumer of fossil fuels, we dont hold a candle to the pollution caused by the Russias, Indias and Chinas of the world.
So go whine somewhere else commies.
In your posts you people write things like "environmental crimes" and refer to global warming as though it's caused by oil and it shows only that people who regularly post on Salon are, apparently, leftist kool-aid drinkers.
Anyway, the post by the "philosopher" named dobermanmacleod was saved to my computer. It will always bring a chuckle. I'm printing copies for my friends so we can all raise a glass the hilarious and monumental narcissism that causes an unemployed 50 year old guy who lives with his mom to refer to himself as a philosopher. Good times.
Exxon, BP....they might represent to the public with their latest commercials how "green" but take note of their past. And not just their past but their unwillingness to really clean up their past even in this "green-age"...
In Ecuador where I do research the inner reaches of Ecuador, inland towards Brazil were at one time "oil heavens"....in fact the area was almost a heaven itself with the environment so pristine. But once big oil got through, as they essentially raped the land, Ecuador is now left with little more than a costly cleanup. Oil sludge, clear-cut areas, old machinery, pollution of immeasurable variety and kind......all left for the poor folks of Ecuador to clean up, just so Americans can drive suburban tanks on cheap gas (Compared to the worlds) is a shame.
I want to see Exxon and BP do commercials showing the world how they voluntarily are cleaning up their get quick messes. I want to see Exxon and BP apologize to the world and give back some of the billions as opposed to trying to make more billions on the back of "going green". For them 'going green' is all about making more 'money' ----

We need to start paying the external costs of our energy use. This will provide a real incentive for conservation and a stimulus for the renewable energy industry. Will have the added benefit of turning OIL companies into ENERGY companies.
A phased-in, federal tax shift from income to non-renewable energy via a BTU tax. Income taxes lowered; non-renewable energy taxes higher. Revenue-neutral for the government.

Lots of people out there love to blame others for anything. I listen to people blame the Oil Companies. You should look at yourself. Everyone of you so called non-polluters. If today the Oil Companies stopped putting Oil and Gas on the market the world would fall to Dinosaurs days in an extremely short period. All you smart complaining people out there surely you all must have invented other alternatives by now and made Millions. If you have I'm happy for you lucky people. The world is wide open for better solutions. I have worked for Baker Oil Tools for 27 years. The Oil Industry is not the same as it was 30 years ago. I work in the North Sea off Norway and believe me EXXON, SHELL, STATOIL and all the other Oil Companies. They do everything humanly possible to keep the environment clean. These Companies spent Millions for this and safety every year. When accidents happen it is most of the time peoples error. No one that is normal wants to pollute the place one has to live. No doubt Norway is a small Country but it is one of the biggest produces of Oil and Gas in the World. You would think Gas would be cheap here. I laugh when I go to the U.S. every year and listen to my friends and people speak about gas prices. Car prices also are laughable. U.S. gas prices about 3 dollars a gallon, Norway over 8 dollars a gallon. Cars for eample Dodge Viper U.S. 85,000 Dollars, Norway 370,000 dollars, VW Golf R32 U.S. 34,000 dollars, Norway 115,000 dollars this is real. One can only hope that our tax money some goes to keeping this home we live in clean, EARTH. Look in your garage and at your house. How are all these things made? One speaks about pollution in China, YES it is extremely Bad with a big B. I have been there more than once. But you two face polluters out there buy and demand this cheap price items. Were do you think these things come from. YOU are the polluters just as I am sometimes. We are responsible, WE ARE RESPONSIBLE, YOU AND ME. People are responsible not Oil Companies

WHO SHOULD WE SUE FOR THE LAST ICE AGE?
WAS THERE SOME NEANDERTHAL EXXON INC. THAT CAUSED IT?
LOOK MORONS, JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE ON EARTH FOR A FEW DECADES, DOES NOT MEAN YOU CONTROL THE PLANET OR NATURE, OR HAVE ANY MORE EFFECT ON THE ATMOSPHERE THAN THE NEXT JACK ASS GREENY STUCK IN TRAFFIC NEXT TO YOU IN HIS PRIUS. WHICH ONE OF YOU HAS THE BALLS TO STAND UP AND SUGGEST THAT A FOREIGN CORPORATION IN CHINA AND THE COUNTRY OF VENEZUELA SHOULD BE EQUALLY SUED FOR HARMING THE ENVIRONMENT? DID ANY OF YOU IDIOTS SUGGEST WE SUE THE MAKER OF THE ASTEROID THAT WIPED OUT THE DINOSAURS? NO. WHY?
BECAUSE YOU'RE ALL IDIOTS BREATHING YOUR OWN SELF-IMPORTANT AIR. STEP OUT OF YOUR BUBBLES FOR A MINUTE AND REALIZE HOW USELESS YOU ARE. THIS PLANET HAS BEEN THOUSANDS OF DEGREES CENTIGRADE AND HUNDREDS OF DEGREES NEGATIVE CENTIGRADE. YOU JUST HAPPEN TO BE RIDING THE BALL AT A GOOD TIME... THE WARM UP FROM THE LAST ICE AGE. WHEN YOU'RE READY TO ADMIT GLOBAL WARMING REGULATIONS ARE NOTHING MORE THAN A WORLD-WIDE SOCIALIST CONSPIRACY TO WEAKEN AMERICA, COME SEE ME.
UNTIL THEN, TRY TO ENJOY THE DOOM AND GLOOM LIVES YOU LEAD WITH YOUR HEADS FIRMLY UP YOUR ASSES.
