..give Karan Arjun a try. Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan (no relation) as two sweet young boys treacherously murdered by their evil uncle (Amrish Puri at his bug-eyed best), reincarnated to avenge their own deaths and make Ma's heart glad. Lots of Kali worship--and she's the good goddess here. One of the wackiest song picturizations ever (Shahrukh and Kajol rolling in the hay--this being Bollywood, that's literally rolling. in. the. hay.) Moral of the story: Turn the other cheek, and if that doesn't work, come back from the dead and kill them all. I watch it every Christmas to erase all the saccharine American holiday fare from my visual palate.
May you last 4,320,000 years! Then India may start to pay attention.
This is one of my favorite corners of the Interweb. Keep up the good work.
I wish you'd attempt to add some depth, considering you have this forum. You're often off the mark and lack any type of edge and won't do the digging that Salon's best do.
Even that idiot neo-con Kaus is better because at least he feels something.
Happy anniversary, Andrew! Has it been two years already? Time flies and all that. Here's wishing you and How the World Works many happy returns. HtWW 萬歲!
Happy blogaversary, Andrew -- what a fine thing you've made of this beat.
Been with ya every step of the way from the very first column.
Bravo!
(Still workin' on that 'Houston, we have a problem' issue. Gack!)
Wrong track is a euphemism. We are a people in clinical depression. Americans know that the ideals that once set our nation apart from the world have been vandalized, and no matter which party they belong to, they do not see a restoration anytime soon.

Stat of the Week
Over 50 U.S. billionaires received federal farm aid subsidies in the two years before 2006, the most recent years with data, Scripps Howard reports. Among the beneficiaries: five heirs of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton and nine heirs to the Hyatt Hotel fortune. The biggest payout: $306,627 for Whitney MacMillan, a Cargill agribusiness heir worth $1.2 billion.
'We're ill prepared to deal with disasters, especially the natural and industrial disasters that present far greater threats to the nation than terrorism. Our declining public health and educational systems rank among the lowest in developed countries. Real wages are at a 59-year low and corporate profits at an all-time high. Extremes of wealth and poverty rival the Gilded Age of the robber barons, while the military economy is fast bankrupting our future.' - Kenny Ausubel, Bioneers
How'd you land this gig? Who are you blowing or is your daddy an investor in salon?
Salon has some incredible writers who do what America needs right now: Jouralists who DIG and find the TRUTH (or part of it) while authority tries to hide things.
There must be some journo out there who believes in journalism, has some ideas and is could do some good.
Instead, we have "Mr. Vanilla" who is more suited to writing a community paper weekly column about the lastest high school theater production, or opinions on the new walmart being built.
Salon should dump leanard and find a "bomb-thrower" who will draw traffic to the site...or at least someone with some depth!
When's the book coming out?!
Andrew, Exactly a year ago, you told us your eyes were beginning to bother you, raw from all your speedy reading for this gig.
How the heck are your eyes now? Inquiring fans want to know! Really truly arguably, you are the best thing on the www. Please stay ahead of the political bloogers, and continue to brush against wisdom.
Congratulations on two years of HTWW.
a little allergy medicine and everything cleared up...
