I remember when they told all the drowning black people of NO
that no one forced them to live there. At least they're consistent.
-
Glen Beck ?
Why waste your time.

In the Ozarks,
when "forested hillsides usually riotous with reds, oranges and yellows have shown their colors only grudgingly in recent years, with many trees going straight from the dull green of late summer to the rust-brown of late fall with barely a stop at a brighter hue."
it is called a "brown and down" autumn.

San Diego evacuations
are all within Brian Bilbray's (used to be "Duke" Cunningham's) 50th District and Duncan Hunter's 52nd. I have no love for either of those men or the voters who elected them - but losing one's house and home is a fate I would quite literally not wish on my enemy.
-
BASEBALL, HOT DOGS AND APPLE PIE
I never knew that Tony Gwynn hated America.

Isn't It Enough That He Said It?
The fact that anybody feels obligated to do a demographic analysis of the residents threatened by the fires is somewhat embarrassing, and all too typical of the way some liberals allow so-called "conservatives" to frame all issues. (I've tried to break this habit, myself.)
Beck's statement would have been cruel, hateful, and stupid even if the fires were taking place in Berkeley. Or at the New York Times building. Or in the heart of North Korea. These are people whose homes are burning that we're talking about.
-
The people being evacuated are Republicans
Santa Clarita (white flight town 30 minutes north of LA)
And Suburban Sand Diego
Are deep red districts.
Glenn Beck can't even get his prejudices right.
-
Tribalism
You're overthinking this. As always, it has nothing to do with policies or ideology. It's about fanning the flames of hatred from his tribe to the other tribe. That's pretty much been the story of right-wing commentary for the last six years, making sure that the 51% is properly motivated to beat down the 49%. Of course, it was a lot less pathetic when they actually HAD 51%.

oh jesus
Glenn Beck is such a hopeless asshole he doesn't deserve mention by anyone with a brain. In a sane society he'd be laughed off the air.
On a more serious note, I think it's far more accurate to say that Glenn Beck and his ilk are the ones who hate America. They are certainly anti-American in just about every particular, and in NO way does Glenn Beck represent the America I grew up in. We all laughed at people like Beck before they managed to take over the airwaves with corporate help.
Glenn Beck would have been much happier working for Alfred Rosenberg and the Volkischer Beobachter. He and Rush. And Ann. And Michelle. They'd have all been right at home there.
And, thus, they are anti-American all, and do not merit any consideration other than tolerance. Which *is* the American way. They are entitled to say whatever they want. And we are entitled to call bullshit on them. Every time. Loudly.
-
and, by the way...
Other posters are absolutely right. In fact, Glenn Beck is so fucking lazy, and stupid, he didn't bother to check the easily observable fact that most of the people losing homes, or evacuated, or under threat, are IN HIS AUDIENCE. They're HIS LISTENERS.
What a dunce.

Beck
Glenn Beck is a turd, but he expresses the right-wing attitude toward anyone who doesn't support their viewpoint: Kill 'em!
-
God would not punish California...
Unless California deserved it! And God would not have made Glenn Beck rich and famous unless Glenn deserved it. Repent! And follow Glenn's example. Be nasty; be shallow; be preposterous.
Furthermore, if Glenn Beck is rich and famous, he must be smart. And Rush Limbaugh must be REALLY smart, because he is really rich and really nasty, shallow, and preposterous.
[Many, many Americans think this way.]
-
my parents just evacuated
And they live in Tierrasanta. They messaged me on gmail before they left the house. I hear a lot of San Diego is under threat now.
-
Expensive homes?
At least some of the neighborhoods most at risk in San Diego, for example, appear to be suburban communities in the north that are up in the hills. Homes in such places tend to be expensive and occupied by people of more conservative persuasions.
Rancho Bernardo may be conservative, but it is hardly full of expensive homes up in the hills. It's full of solidly, boringly middle-class housing developments. Most of the area hit by the Ramona fire is anything but upper class.

When Idiots Attack
Glenn Beck is a symbol of CNN's unwinding into becoming a stepchild to the Loony Tune news at Fox. He is a buffoon, an ex-drunk who seems to still be in an alcohol-induced haze. His continually irresponsible comments are beyond the pale, and CNN needs to get rid of him.
-
Glenn Beck is an entertainer, not a commentator
Beck's blather is devoid of meaningful content. He is a gasbag, a bloviator, a font of hot air laced with faux outrage. Beck is an entertainer and his own biggest fan.
He's essentially just like the pinhead pundits exemplified by the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity, only Beck is not quite as low as Limbaugh or as hateful as Hannity. The bunch of them represent a certain shtick that amuses their sycophant dittohead listeners but offers nothing of substance.
Beck's remark about the fires is nothing more than a cheap potshot at liberals. In Beck's tiny mind, anyone who lives in California must be a liberal. And since liberals are "fair game" to the pinhead pundits from the right, low blows are a perfectly acceptable way of amusing the dittoheads.
What a waste of perfectly good bandwidth.
-
Pyromanics like to dress in staunch patriotism!
Surely the White House would be simpatico with Glen Beck for they'd recognize in him a kindred spirit and embrace this like mind characterized by greed and paranoia wherein the highest intellectual concept is "pre-emption"!
-
Another disciple of the Coulter cult
Say something outrageous. Say it often. Make it more outrageous and more stunningly stupid and more vapid than you started out and voila! Sell a book to lunatics who are so easily entertained.
Beck is so utterly stupid that he thinks a Rhodes scholarship is a job with the highway department. He won't ever be mistaken for the Scarecrow, who at least knew he needed a brain. But he's on national television every night. He gets to be stupid for a living. People watch him but apparently the network execs don't. Otherwise, they would kick his chubby, dough boy ass off the screen.
Beck is living the American - money for nothing.
