dogcow named "Clarus" that goes "moof" . . .

It's off to me that liberals seems to gravitate to Apple computers considering their dismal environmental record. They routinely make the bottom of Greenpeace's green IT report (except for that time they complained about it, and were given a higher rating ONCE).
Their recycling program trails far behind their rivals. Their computers are not as energy efficient as their rivals. Their track record with e-waste is deplorable.
In report after report from NGOs and other 3rd party analysts, they are at the bottom of (or do not even make) the list.
But hey - Steve Jobs says they are "green," so that's all people need to hear.

IBM, Dell, and HP have all made tremendous progress to make their operations and products more sustainabile (of course, they all still have a long way to go), and even have an intense rivalry to outgreen each other. This contest benefits everyone. Sadly, Apple has decided not to participate.
Actually liking the 'new' ipod shuffle...
It's too small and the voice system sucks a lot of the usable space out of it. The voice entries appear to be made on the fly as the music is added to it and do take up more space the more tracks you add...
And what happened to the female voice? Do you only get it with Windows? Is that a ham handed attempt to get people to use the damn thing with Windows? A side benefit to switching back to Windows? Bizarre...
"Another day, another fauning Apple fanboy article from GigaOM"
Well, it is from 'The Apple Blog'. What do you expect? A fawning review of Windows 7. On an 'Apple blog'? Do you really have that bad a grasp on reality?
To GezelligTexas: Jim Puckett of the Basel Action Network (BAN) admits that BAN targeted Apple not because its policies are any worse than its competitors’, but because of its customers. “We saw them as low-hanging fruit that could send a strong market signal,” he says. “Their demographic is highly educated, socially minded consumers.” That describes us, actually, much better than “fanboys.” And why would anyone believe anything Greenpeace, a group that has constantly tried to thwart Sea Shepherd’s efforts to save whales and which places far more emphasis on raising donations than on actually saving the environment, says?
Perhaps Apple’s greatest contribution to our environment is that so many fewer of its computers end up in landfills. That’s also a reason they have a lower percentage of computer sales. Their computers last forever. My 7100/66, one of the first Power Macs, still runs fine. When I upgraded I gave it to my dad for email and browsing, a task which it was more than equal to. And, if it ever DOES break down, I have lifetime customer support.
