    in all fairness

    Thank you, David, but in all fairness I have to point out that "This article wasn't worthy of a serious response," is also a legitimate opinion. I'm not saying it's an opinion I agree with, just that it's one that you can't dismiss out of hand. Some of the commenters you've dismissed so lightly have backlogs of well-reasoned posts on other articles. They are capable of adult conversation, when they feel it's merited.
