Believe me, I am not an Apple fanboy. I threw away an iPod rather than navigate their snooty 'genius bar' scheduling for service, even though the iPod was under warranty.
They tried to sell me a $99 service contract on a $99 iPod shuffle so I could move to the 'front of the line'. I didn't drink that glass of Kool-Aid.
Apple definitely has issues with manufacturing quality control - it will be interesting to see how durable an iPhone is the fifth time it is dropped onto a hardwood floor - and how this will be rectified for the customer if it breaks.
