    Python!

    Brin's article is spot on. The lack of student understanding of mathematics and bare-bones programming is one of the failings of the current educational system. I also mourn the loss of a universal, easy-to-use and fun BASIC interpreter. However, when my kids get a bit older, we'll sit down with a terminal window on the Mac, we'll type "python" at the prompt, and away we'll go!
