The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions

I would not presume to attempt to fly a wide-bodied airliner, perform brain surgery, teach Physics or play the piano in Carnegie hall. People who have not bothered to do the basic research on 9/11 by at least reading some of David Griffin's books or looking at the evidence presented by groups such as Pilots for 9/11 Truth have not done the necessary work to have an informed opinion on the events of 9/11. Rather than rely on the uniformed opinions of others, I would suggest that anyone who wants to learn more about 9/11 should examine the evidence presented by well-respected researchers like Griffin and come to their own conclusions about what the balance of evidence suggests. As a start, I would suggest his book "The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions"

"For far too long, the very reasonable questions raised by 9/11 have been ignored and even ridiculed by America's press and politicians, who treat the subject with the sort of willful blindness that suggests a wish not to find out unpleasant truths. We, the people, therefore owe the editors of this important new collection our warm thanks for their intelligent and unrelenting work."

Bin Laden's family is in heavy construction

Osama Bin Laden's estranged family has been constructing large buildings for decades. So, it's not inconceivable that Osama learned a little about the family business, and decided to have his minions employ research and computer modeling to know how to destroy the WTC.

In fact, the manner in which the buildings failed suggests it. As you may recall, the structural steel failed from the heat of the fire. But, the steel had a fireproof insulation that should have at least delayed the collapse. What went wrong? The impact of the planes striking the towers at 600 MPH knocked the insulation off. If their intent was merely to deliver the fuel to sustain a fire, they would have flown much more slowly to reduce the chance of missing the towers.

@ luft14

I would not exactly call my or scorpio's posts "trolling" but that is okay.

What would another investigation do? One thing that was never explained by the 911 report, and this has nothing to do with conspiracies, is, how was it possible that the air defences of America failed that day?

I mean imagine a warehouse filled gold, a treasure that is guarded by the world's best security system, and a team of crack security men, constantly on patrol, then one day, say on Sept. 11, 2001, a motley collection of mooks, amateurs, and wannabes, somehow bypassed all that, stole the fraking gold, and burned your warehouse down (even though it was made of fireproof material, and had fire suppression system).

Now that's a fairly rough analogy to America's arsenal of spy satellites, hundreds of interceptor aircraft, AWACS, radars, cameras, legions of spies, NSA men huddled around their glowing NARUS machines, and of course a crackjack preznit, Richard Vader Cheney. All of which massively failed that day, to protect not the WTC complex, forget them, but the Pentagon, which had over an HOURS WARNING that planes had been hijacked and flown into buildings. Don't forget that Andrews AFB, which is only 13 miles away, never launched a single one of the 125 interceptor aircraft! Oh, and despite the goddamn medical fact that the Pentagon had to have had dozens if not hundreds of surveillance cameras, to this day we have seen what, 15 lo res frames.

Yeah, I think we need a new investigation. I want to know who stole the gold, how they got past the guards, and turned off the security system. All from a cave in teh mountains, on the other side of the planet, in a medieval country, surrounded by goats.

Back in the day when America was a functioning democracy, there was another event that got people all riled up, wondering how the fuck did that happen. It was called the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. And yeah they had a few investigations, just a few, they spent some time on it too...

The December 1941 Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor engendered massive investigations by the US Navy, Army, Congress, and a presidential commission. These investigations, lasting from 1941 to 1946, were published in 39 volumes of congressional hearings and a one-volume report of a joint congressional committee.

(that's 4 investigations. four)

Oh and there have been lots of new investigations. The latest one must impinge on a rational mind. A peer reviewed paper that showed the presence of nano thermite in the debris of the towers. This paper was so compelling to non Americans, that Danish television ran with it as their top story, Solved, WTC, Destroyed by nano thermite.

No matter what you or anyone believes, the failure of the defence system is undeniable. It is in everyone's interest to find out how that happened.

Continental Airlines Flight

Why have we not heard about the "heroic" actions of the co-pilots who somehow managed to land that plane?

Tubes

Based on the evidence so far, it seems very likely that those passagers would be alive today had Air France done the right thing and replaced the defective pitot tubes which were a known problem. While I have known about pitot tubes since I starting reading books about flying at 14, I had no idea they were so critically important, nor did I know that they could create such problems for flight computers.

PITOT TUBES

For those unfamiliar with what a pitot tube looks like, I submit these links. There appear to be at least two, one on each side, under the cockpit side windows, with what appear to be an array of sensors underneath.

I think the odds are small that a chunk of hail crushed, smashed or sheared off one of the pitot tubes and astonomical that hail got both of them. Maybe more probable is that ice mechanically removed one while the other had heater failure. Boy, talk about having a bad day, but odds say it's possible no matter how astronomical.

In a plane as sophisticated as an A330, I would assume it to have check valves in the system to prevent the loss of one pitot tube to effect the whole system. What effect on, and what subsequent reaction from the air data computer would there be, to the loss of the entire pitot system ?
