I was going crazy through the synchronized diving and that was "only" four days long! Instead of the massive numbers of Field events they could have shown from 8 to 9 p.m., we were shown the semis, the prelims, and the finals of every diving event.
Oh, I was starting to get a kick out of how every night's coverage included some form of this line: "The [American divers] are in contention for a medal [which meant they were somewhere in the top 8], they just have to do their last X number of dives really well." The American divers, without exception, ended up in 5th place or lower.
...all the diving they can throw at me in exchange for a moratorium on that old, tired, stupid "Olympic Trumpet Theme."
god. the tryouts. the preliminaries. the semifinals. each with 800 dives. am I right to assume that there weren't even any medals at the end of this parade of warm showers?

Come ON! I've not seen so much vollyball in all past olympics combined! Where's the synchronzed swimming? Where the shotput, the javelin, the high jump, the long jump? Most of the decathalon (I mean, this guy worked 2 long days to win gold ad we saw a grand total of 3 minutes of clips from the darned thing.)
I do like being able to see that medals aren't won in one 5 minute final round, but not at the complete sacrifice to any attention on so many other sports. Moderation in all things NBC.
AMen! Do we really need to see every dive by every diver, even those doomed to stay at the bottom of the pile, while NBC continues doing its best to conceal the date and time and channel where we can watch US basketball, including, apparently, the basketball gold medal game?
in the whole "NBC only shows the events that the US is going to win blah blah blah."
