Favre retires -- this is not a drill

It appears the future Hall of Famer is going to keep trying until he gets it right.

The letters thread is now closed.

Why would he retire?

He actually did pretty well with the jets this year and frankly, they would not have gotten to where they did without him.

We miss you

"Narcoleptic mattress tester"? You rock.

Favre Retirement Story Obsession Syndrome

I see you must not have found anyone to counsel you about your condition.

tbolioli, the reason he's retiring

Even though he had a pretty decent year, the fact remains that his teammates hate him. And he's given them reason to. You can't succeed in an environment like that.

I Disagree

I believe that the Jets could have missed the playoffs with just about anyone under center this year.

didn't Jordan retire more?

First time to play for the White Sox.

Retired from Bulls then played with the Wizards.

Then again? Maybe?

the Jets

they would not have gotten to where they did without him.

True. With Chad Pennington, they probably would've made the playoffs.

Favre Retires?? Echo, Echo, Echo

We've heard this song before. The only people that care about this story live in Wisconsin.

Let him retire...oops until this summer when he decides...maybe not.

Thursday, February 12, 2009 05:16 AM

He's Gone,

those last few games convinced him that he doesn't have it anymore.

I think he knows he would detract from his great years if he tried to play another year.

wisconsin

And believe me, even we're sick to death of it. But then, I was mostly pissed because as a Steeler fan trying to watch Steelers games in Madison, WI, the Jet's game was given audio preference over the Steeler's game when they collided at my local "sunday-ticket-bar"

Apt analogy

Brett Favre retires more often than a narcoleptic mattress tester

I read tens of thousands of words each day on the Web, this is by far the funniest thing I've read in months.

My hat is off to you, sir.

Let's hope Favre retains his dignity this year, and rides off into the sunset for real.

At the moment, sure

I think this'll last right up to the point where the Vikings or Bucs call and say "Hey, we have a good team, all we really need is a QB" and back to the races we go.

22 interceptions last year

Come about May he'll be ready to throw it up for grabs again.
