My cellphone calls too many timeouts

Could it be that the latest trend in mid-tech gadgetry is to program in hoops-coach logic?

The letters thread is now closed.

There's gotta be a blue balls joke in there somewhere too.

I mean, Virgin phone shutting off arbitrarily has gotta mess with the boy parts too.

is this the headline you wanted?

Took me a click-through and a bit of reading to figure out that you were talking about the bad coaching practice of benching players with "early foul trouble" as opposed to the bad coaching practice of wasting timeouts.

how else does it compare to a basketball coach

Now we just have to find the cellphone equivalent to sitting a player because he's picked up too many quick fouls in the first half of a game. I've been trying to think of one, but nothing quite works.

technical reason for low battery shut off

It is bad for the hardware for a phone to run out of power completely, both for the battery (which can be damaged) and for the memory (which can be corrupted if not allowed to gracefully shut down). It is necessary to program the phones to shut themselves down when their power becomes intolerably low.

There are good reasons

And they were stated by the previous poster.

Maybe there are good reasons for the basketball timeouts that King also doesn't understand? Just a though, since we're making analogies and all...

Heads up or Warning?

I think Kauf's point is that he'd like to be warned that the battery is about dead so make your last minute call, versus the battery is about dead so, I'm turning off.

Let's see the basketball equivalent would be - I dunno. We supposed to be going the timeout path or pulling a player w/ early foul trouble?
