  • Hard to forget

It's hard to forget about it when sportswriters like you can't shut up about it.

When you publish an 'article' about something saying you're sick of hearing about it, aren't you part of the problem?

You could always write about hockey, but that would be sports writing and not personality driven.

  • just keep repeating it over and over

That Favre let a friend down. That he's not a leader. It's like Wolfowitz, Cheney and Feith all relying on Ahmed Chalabi.

I suppose I wasn't direct enough in my first post so here's someone that said it quite nicely, no room for ambiguity (your reliance on Chmura is bordering on the petulant, like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum):

Chmura's pissed because Favre, the father of two daughters, doesn't want to associate with a married man who got a bunch of 17 and 18-year olds drunk and then fooled around (whether consensually or not, does it really matter?) with his 17-year old babysitter.

I'm shocked that a man like Chmura has the gall to question anyone's character. Although, I shouldn't be. After all, Chmura refused to meet with Bill Clinton at the White House after Super Bowl XXXI because he "lost respect" for Clinton due to his relationship with Monica Lewinsky. When Chmura calls Favre a hypocrite, I guess he's relying on the "takes-one-to-know-one defense".

While Chmura was acquitted of sexual assault, he is guilty of being a dumbass. As such, he should just shut up.

Please stop being such a troglodyte. In the ordinary course of discussion people are accountable for what the say. In your course of discussion you make a claim, I refute it, and then you carry on as if you stated nothing. I really think you are in need of an accountability moment.

That being said, I don’t know how you think that I “rely on Chmura.” My original point was that he was handled with kid gloves. I listed out all of the things that are forgotten/forgiven by the media. The hanging a friend out to dry was a mere point in that. I didn’t even mention the playing coy about retirement the past few years, his reluctance to groom his successor, or the Javon Walker flair up. I don’t think any of those actions are those of “team leader” nor are they ways to help your team win. But go ahead and keep harping about how I love and rely on Chmura.

So go on living in your self created cave where Favre is a man amongst boys and the best QB that ever lived. I’ll stay here knowing that before Favre I’d take Montana, Elway, Unitus, Jorgenson, Brady, P. Manning….

  • from the resident troglodyte (sic)

    Hirsutefred:

I never claimed anything about Favre being the greatest QB nor have I been lauding his leadership/athletic ability in these posts. What I think of Favre is irrelevant. On the other hand, you have relied solely on your boyfriend Chmura to prove Favre's lack of leadership (I guess). That is a pretty weak example, pal o' mine. It has been your stubborn intransigence to admit that you are so woefully wrong using Chmura as an example, when his hypocrisy, total lack of character and deviant sexual tendencies have been brought to your attention time and again. You are so boring now, that this is my last response to you. Good for you that you'd take Jorgenson (sic) over Favre. I hear that Jorgenson fella' plays a mean accordion up there in Wisco during his polka recitals.

  • Thanks zizou

You're not going to post again but I wanted to thank you for the little bit of entertainment you gave me and my fellow travelers stuck here at the San Diego airport (Thanks American). About ten (all strangers previously) of us have been reading your posts at the Yan Can bar having a good time while waiting for our next flight.

However, one of them wanted to know about the "sic" following troglodyte in your last post. It is the correct spelling, its usage was proper and its not that uncommon of a word. She just wanted to know why you felt compelled to use the "sic".

PS: I loved the change to hirstefred. I wish I were that clever.

  • Hey, King! Perfect opportunity to write about other sports:

    http://www.salon.com/wires/ap/2008/04/13/D9017K5O0_curling_worlds/index.html

The Canadians won the Curling title! The world does not care, and does not want to read about it, but, you, King, are such a great sportswriter that you can turn the entire world into Curling fans, if you write about it.

If you write, they will come.
