Look, you’re right in that I was over the top. Let’s say I had posted the following:
I'm so sick of hearing about the ONE-TIME womanizing, FORMER drug using, WHO ONCE let his friend hang out to dry, career interception leading BUT ALSO LEADS IN TDS, QB that ALONG WITH SOME OF HIS TEAMMATES cost his team a shot at the Super Bowl in 2008.
I may not have gotten a reaction from you but some other Favre lover would have taken up the mantle to protect him. Again, THAT WAS THE POINT OF MY POST!

You really don't understand how verb tenses matter? How implying something that happened in the past is ongoing isn't accurate? If I walk up to your wife and say you date tons of women when in reality you haven't done that since before you were married, you think she'll understand what I'm talking about? "once a womanizer, always a womanizer" is a load of crap. If you think truth is held withing trite aphorisms, you have a problem.
You really don't understand the difference between being hooked on pain killers that were prescribed to you and being a drug addict?
You really think you know everything that went on between Favre and Chmura? That they were really friends and not just co-workers? You've never gone to a work "Happy Hour" where you have beers with them after work? Or do you consider all of those people friends that you'll support in public even when your company is distancing itself?
You think your career should be summed up by the fact that you had more spelling mistakes in your reports than anyone in company history even though you led sales for the last 20 years?
Your form of "truth" is fine for the Daily Star or the National Enquirer, it just isn't accurate.

No, because none of it is worth mentioning. Not even the records in his favor. If you said "I'm sick of hearing about Favre, he's retired, let it go" that's fine. All the other stuff, as you admit, is just an attempt to piss people off. Why don't you mention that Favre used to wet himself, sure it was when he was an infant, but it happened! Drug using? Every player in the NFL is given medication, which is what we're talking about here. And I think it is hilarious that you're harping on the Chmura thing. You're so desperate to find bad things about the guy you have to distort and imagine all kinds of things.

tangosharkus the Bruins
better improve their play substantially or they are going to get swept.
The Habs have now beat them 12 in a row.
Tonight I am looking forward to watching the Penguins and the Sens go at it.

Favre
Once again, the point of my original post was that the bad things about Favre are never mentioned. I wasn't trying to piss people off but trying to prove a point.
Chmura and Favre were notorious drinking buddies until Chmura's arrest (it wasn't just after work drinks). His drug problem stemmed from mixing vicodin with beer (as if being hooked on prescription drugs is any better than street drugs...unless of course you like Rush). It's not desperation bringing these things up they are facts, they happened. I didn't go to google and put in "bad acts by Brett Favre", rather I remembered them and noticed how he gets a free pass.
With Favre it's just like 2000, the media and public think that it would be fun to hang out with him so he gets a free pass just like with GWB. Long ago the sports nation decided that Favre was a "gamer" and "played with a child's joy" so we overlook his faults.

@ hairyfred and lynx
Are either of you friends, business associates or neighbors of Brett Favre? I doubt either of you has the truth in their corner.
Hockey: North Dakota's goalie was awful last night, what was that?
Rangers beating Devils with ex-Devils would be nice.

Something new to say about Favre
Wasn't Favre a football player? I seem to recall watching football games where a guy named Favre was really fun to watch because of his football skills and because of the way he played the game. Womanizing, drug abuse, hanging friends out to dry, waffling about retirement, etc.? I don't remember any of those things happening on the football field. But then again I was too busy watching Favre scramble around and throw seemingly impossible passes and sometimes making rookie-like mistakes. He may have been a big factor in the Packers' loss to the Giants, but I think he was also a pretty big factor in getting the Packers that far in the first place. I think the Packers were the most over-achieving team in the '07 playoffs, much of which is attributable to Favre's style of play.
Here in Denver, what Favre says on the radio doesn't get much airplay, so how he answers hypothetical questions really doesn't affect my opinion of him - which I base pretty much on how he played a game called football.

@Fournier
I totally agree. The Habs looked, well, dominant last night. They played the Bruins game (physical and hard hitting) and still out shot them by a wide margin and won 4-1. They weathered Price's predictable 1st period jitters and for the rest of the game he looked rock solid.
It's weird to be the favourite isn't it? I've grown accustomed to les habitants being the underdogs that every win has me boucing in my seat with glee. Last night I was left with a "yep, they spanked 'em like they shoulda". Not that I'm complaining, but it's different.
Habs in Five (Thomas steals one) and on to round 2!
cheers!
p.s. I used to have a family friend from Saint Hyacinthe with the last name Fournier...Seeing your name always reminds me of that guy :)
