Goodbye, Favre? The NFL's most beloved and interesting star says he's retiring, and a sports media that craves personalities doesn't want to believe him.
  • Heir to the throne...

I will miss Mr. Favre... his endurance, skill and love of the game will endure. So will, I hope, his protogé Aaron Rogers.... who looked to be a very scholarly student of Professor Favre. In that one game...late in the season... when Aaron Rogers came in for the ailing Brett, he took control of the game with confidence. He new the plays, and managed the huddle quickly and confidently. His game play also reflected his tutelage with Mr. Favre, down to the ever so goofy, but ever so effective over-the-top play acting after he has handed the ball away. The only difference was that young Rogers was hitting his marks about forty percent faster then his older prototype. I look forward to a new era, with the ghost of Brett Favre properly installed in the new journeyman Aaron Rogers.
