Letters to the Editor

This letter is associated with the following article:
King Kaufman's Sports Daily Midweek malaise: Marion Jones tells Oprah how she made a "mistake," Randy Moss denies battery charges, Miguel Tejada's tragedy.
  • Don't care since it is "her nickel"? That is depressing

I am generally a big fan of this column, but I wanted to make sure I understood what you were saying here. I was surprised to read the statement, "Depressing. Because who didn't love Marion Jones? And it's especially depressing for this column, which doesn't care if she took steroids. It's her nickel." I would read this to be saying that you don't care if athletes use steroids since they are paying for them? It is hard for me to imagine that this is what you meant, but I can't find another way to read this.

If this is what was meant then I find the perspective of the columnist depressing.
