Stupid fuckers
Kstone vomited:
Coach Coolbaugh died doing something he probably loved. That you are using his death to castigate others who, correctly, stated that baseball is just entertainment probably makes you the stupid fucker.
NO asshole. It makes you about the stupidest fucker and imbecile this side of Zeta Reticuli. For conflating a game, the national pastime, with a venerable history and tradition, with fucking shallow crappola "entertainment"
I don't give a fuck what the game has become now with "big buiness". I have followed it from the 1940s, 1950s- the Jackie Robinson era, Brookly Dodgers, Milwaukee Braves, and Warren Spahn, etc. Don't tell me and many other legions of fans that what we have followed since then was merely "entertainment"
It just shows what a shallow stupid fucker you are, and as we saw from previous thread on this, merely an apologist for criminals like Bonds.
You ought to be ashamed for even posting such vile shit, as should the rest of your ilk. It's a good thing at least one or two generations remain alive to know and recall what baseball once was- as opposed to little wet behind the ears Johnny come laterly Gen X'ers or knotheads who don't know any of the game's history or heritage.
Moron.

Movies v. baseball
King Kaufmann wrote:
Are the movies somehow not entertainment because people sometimes die in accidents while making them?
False analogy, again. MOvies are fictional works of art based on unfolding artifact. E.g. they are not even real as they are made or put together. They shoot maybe 20 hrs. of film, but maybe 18 hrs. end up on the cutting room floor. A ficitious product emerging from a fictitious script or storyline. Yeah. stunt doubles may bite it during filming, but that's a different kettle of fish.
Re: baseball, the GAME unfolds in real time. As you yourself pointed out, all those statistics count. "Game editors" don't go back to all the film records of any game - say the Milw. Braves game 7 win over the Yanks in 1957 and change the ending - as can be done in a movie.
In other words, we are talking chalk and cheese. Movies ain't baseball and baseball ain't movies - and anyone who makes such a daft generalization doesn't understand either.
Re: the HR record, you maybe have a point on the intertwined stats. So I will happily settle for a big ol' asterisk after Bonds' name.

We need to waterboard Bonds

Charges
After what happened with the Scooter Libby thing, I'm surprised they would have the nerve to lay similar charges against another high profile name. What do we do now? Wait for a pardon? Or just take for granted that the U.S. system of justice is corrupt?

@droogy
Wow, you are an idiot. Get up off your knees fool. You can bizzarely worship at the altar of all things baseball all you want, knock yourself out, but that still doesn't make it more than a game no matter how much inchorent nonsense you toss at others and it still doesn't change the fact that you used a guy's accidental and tragic death as stupid propaganda against others. Way to show how much you care about the guy's family tough guy. I'm sure they would be thrilled by your obviously sincere concern.

re: gee
Oh, you're right. I didn't know you were one of the frothers -- thanks for clearing that up.
So you have some evidence that suggests that it is possible for steroids to increase the number of homeruns hit. Great. I think there's more work to be done.
When did Bonds begin taking steroids?
Was he on an exercise regime that would increase muscle mass?
By how much?
Was this in the off-season or throughout the season?
If only the off-season, how sustained is the additional muscle mass throughout the season?
What % increase in homeruns can be attributed to steroids?
Are there other factors that should be included? Decline in pitching quality due to expansion, juiced ball, smaller parks?
Was there a proportional increase in homeruns by other players?
Were pitchers juiced?
I'm sure you can think of more.
Of course, the analysis is dependent upon what your end game really is. Being a frother, it seems what you're going for is something along the lines of "scourge," "piece of filth," or in other comparisons, rapist, murderer, etc. Good luck with that.

All things baseball - better than blowing Bonds
KStone huffed:
Wow, you are an idiot. Get up off your knees fool. You can bizzarely worship at the altar of all things baseball
Well, at least worshipping at "the altar of all things baseball" is better - superior to worshipping at the altar of Barry Bonds. Becoming his little bitch to the point of even offering virtual blow jobs in one's posts. But hey, if that's your shtick go for it, meathead.
Re: Mike Coolbaugh, he was killed while first base coach for a minor league team for the Colo. Rockies. After he was killed, mean-spirited comments appeared in the Denver press about how the Denver media made too much of his demise- and "after all, baseball is just a game- he died doing what he loved, get over it".
Much like you have been barfing out. His wife was none too pleased at that sort of response. She clearly pointed out it "wasn't just a game" to him it was LIFE itself - and a metaphor for higher morality.
Something you Bonds-blowing morons will never ever get.
-
@droogy
You really are embarrassing youself with your petulant and childish idiocy. Now you've moved on from trying to shamefully appropriate someone's death your your own pathetic agenda to disgracefully trying to piggyback on his wife's understandable grief for that same stupid agenda. Shame on you.
In your case, I guess the saying is true: "There's no fool like and old fool."

I'd rather be an "old fool"
Kstone wrote:

Well, I would rather be an "old fool" - with a proper sense and knowledge of history (including baseball history), than a young fool - prepared to worship at the altar of any loud-mouthed, bellicose, brash, loathsome felon with some bling.
All you Bonds worshippers for sure will pout and cry when his baseball for "HR 756" enters the Hall with an asterisk on it.
But as we know, this is probably ok with you all - after all felons worship felons. How maggots like Bonds achieved their notoriety doesn't matter to you lot.
Hank Aaron deserves that record, and for all practical and historic fans, he will be the rightful and de facto record holder. Asterisks don't count.
