NBA preview: Let's talk in April, but for now, it's an even-numbered year so -- not the Spurs! Plus: Late-night World Series starts. Think of the children?
  • Late Local News

...ratings for all demos except the 55-plus crowd went up after 11 p.m....

The ratings go up when the the game overlaps with the late local news.

It looks like that to me, anyway. Here in flyover country where I live, 11 PM on the east coast is 10 PM, right at the time when the local news broadcasts start. Imagine, all the people watching their regular weekly network TV, then the news starts. Nobody really wants to watch the news, so they surf over to the baseball.

And since the games are lasting four hours, that leaves at least an hour of baseball to watch. Which is probably pushes the limit of the attention span of the casual viewer. Any true baseball fans have been watching the whole game, after all.

Just my unresearched opinion. Sounds logical to me.
