Well, Marmol was coming in at some point--it wasn't like Zambrano had faced the minimum and--so he likely would have given up runs eventually. Marmol was way too excited.
And Piniella's decision not to insert a pinch-hitter in the pitcher's spot with the bases loaded? Zambrano's .247 average is probably higher than anyone's on the Cubs bench, not to mention that he smoked a double into left earlier the game.
Oh yeah, and has been repeated several times: the Cubs lost because they didn't score runs, not because Marmol gave up two. That was some disappointing offense.
