damn
You beat me to it!
I noticed that fact about the CFL (7 of 8 Quarterbacks being black) last weekend and was just waiting for the proper avenue to highlight it! Oh well, I guess that's why they pay you the big bucks ;)
A couple of points though
1) Damon Allen isn't only the leading passer in CFL history, but ALL of pro football history - he passed Warren Moon last year (i believe)
2) The Montreal Alouettes generally have a hispanic quarterback (but he's injured right now...and replaced by a black quarterback). Only lily-white Edmonton (the west texas of Canada) has a white QB.
3) Argos GM (Adam) Rita has been known to say some pretty dumb things, and this is certainly an example of it. But I think his point (however silly) was that Allen was brought in 3(or 4) years ago as basically a legend at the end of his career - hoping to catch lightning in a bottle and maybe win a playoff game. Nobody really expected him to play so well, so they had to keep him on...which isn't a bad thing, but it certainly hindered the development of the current QB Michael Bishop (remember him? almost won the Heismann? K State I believe). What's especially daffy about Rita's comment is that Allen clearly lost his job in the first game of the season (he's obviously lost more than a step) to Bishop - his injury just made the transition easier.
4) McNabb is absolutely correct, no doubt about it. His timing might be questionable though - 'cause man, that team has ZERO deep threat capability. It's gonna be a LOOONG season for Westbrook.
5) My vote for the ball-thingy: coming up with another truly pointless statistic a la PRV or Neifi Index. (write in vote)
6) I agree with Tom re: Eli. Poor guy is screwed :)
