They're -> their
I'm going to assume you were writing the sentence one way ("Their combined record is...") and changed your mind mid-sentence, but forgot to go back and fix the beginning.

Heidi-bowled again!
In the New York metro area, at 4 P.M., we were given "bonus coverage" of the Browns-Bengals game with about 6 or 7 minutes left in that game. The clock ticked down, and the Bengals were mounting a comeback, cutting their deficit from 13 to 6. You could tell this was going to be a wild finish. And....the game was abruptly zapped off the air at 10 minutes after 4, with just over three minutes to play and with nary a word of warning. It was time for the Jets, and that was that. In fact, CBS didn't even switch to the Jets - it first had a 5-minute block of commercials booked, and that's what we got.
Message from CBS to the fan: Screw You!!
Everything that's wrong with prime-time sports coverage can be found in this policy, right down to the bullshit spin that the network suits put on it: "We know it's annoying to the viewer but we are obligated by contract to do it and anyway it would be just as insulting to fans of the Jets if they were to miss something important at the beginning of their game."

I hate to say it....
...but Dallas may be about the best the NFC has to offer. and I HATE Dallas.
It's still a bit early to jump on (or off) bandwagons. New Orleans will be OK; Seattle will win their division; Indianapolis will remain the team to beat (the Titans always play them close - yesterday was no surprise).
I don't think the NY Giants actually have a bandwagon, but you could feel free to jump off if they did. Here we are in year 5(?) of the Coughlin regime and his players are still taking stupid penalties to help them lose games. I expect Shockey to act like a dick at the wrong time, but when Amani Toomer joins in you can bet your paycheck that the coach has absolutely lost the team. I'll be surprised if Coughlin lasts till the end of the season.
Patriots vs. Colts in AFC title game. It's a lock.
Dallas vs. Chicago in NFC title game. Doesn't matter, AFC wins the big one again.

Yes, Cleveland Can Score
Now if they could only get their coach a brain transplant.
Lesson number one, coaching 101, any sport----If you are in position to deliver a knockout blow you deliver it. So long as the possible downside of not connecting is not extreme.
Browns up 48-38, 4th and goal at the Bengal one, 6 minutes left. If you get the TD here you are up 55-38 thus making it a 3 score advantage. The opposition being Carson Palmer and receivers who are more than capable of getting two scores in that time, be it two TDs to win it behind 51-38 or a TD and field goal to tie it at 48-38.
The aforementioned downside for the Browns in going for the knockout and missing is 48-38 a little under 6 minutes left, Bengals at their own one. That isn't a downside at all. So by handing off to their big tailback on the 4th and goal the game is either over at 55-38 or it's 48-38 Bengals on their goal line. That coin flip is one you take every single time without any thought at all.
They kick the field goal to make it 51-38. Now you have to kick off. An average return puts the Bengals at their own 25. A good return at the 40 or 50, and the freak's out there too. The kickof return TD. So it's up 51-38 with the Bengals most likely at their own 25 or 30 maybe more, or up 48-38 with the Bengals completely pinned (Again, this is if the Browns don't get the TD, which again, ends the game if they do. Thus ending any ulcers over the last 6 minutes and the Browns did end up in an ulcer situation.)
Even if they go for the 7 and miss and the Bengals end up getting 10 to tie it, which couldn't have happened at 51-38, it's not a loss it's only overtime at home for the Browns.
All this not even mentioning the slight possibility of missing the short field goal or having it blocked and possibly returned......not getting the three points that isn't that important even if you did get it.
And these coaches get paid millions.

This One Bonehead Incident
Rules out that guy as a good head coach. He'll have to be watched very closely in any late game strategy situation.

Colts vs Texans
Actually they play the Colts in Houston next week.
-
Derek Anderson
Yes, Anderson played well, but he did throw an interception with his five touchdowns.

re: Sunny Jim
Same thing happened to me. Ugly Bengals game nearing the end, CBS switches to some 0-0 game in the first quarter. Luckily, the unbelievably stupid bartender a few feet in front of me let me know that, "they don't televise the end of blowouts." Thanks Jack - it's a 6 point game.
Oh well, it's the NFL - we don't have to run the table. It's going to take more than one loss for me to count out the Bengals.

Cutting away from the Browns game
Apparently it's a rule that they have to cut away to show the local team's game in its entirety. The same thing happened here in Colorado, but at least we got warning -- the Denver station started running a crawl across the screen about 5 minutes before the cutaway saying something like "Due to contractual obligations with the NFL, we will be leaving this game at 2:15 in order to show the Broncos-Raiders game in its entirety..." etc. Although actually they cut away at 2:12 or 2:13, then showed a few commercials before the Broncos game.

bears vs. chiefs
Devin Hester caught a kickoff or punt (I don't remember which) and but one foot out of bounds which ended up being a good thing. I'm not sure why because my TV went blank for the explanation of that rule.
Can any of you guys explain?

Intentionally ugly?
Is Mike Nolan intentionally making the Niners' offense ugly? Is Dilfer teaching Alex Smith not to lose instead of winning?
The Niners are the ugliest 2-0 team ever. Is there a strategy to this?
