Another contented Canadian here who is so very fortunate to able to get the BBC coverage through the local sports channels. What a joy?
The BBC has one announcer who doesn't fill every micro-second with pointless blather. No color man hopped up on speed screaming about what's obviously going on.
During one of the games this past weekend, the BBC feed disconnected for a while and the Canadian cable provider went directly to ESPN. I can't tell you how jarring it was. Thought I'd need a Tylenol to calm my nerves. I love Americans but must you all be so darn hyper?!
And what a great compact sport, soccer is!!...two 45-minute halves, add a couple of minutes of stoppage time, a 15-minute halftime...that's it. An entire game wrapped up in just under two hours.
Compare that to baseball and football, which regularly go on for 3 to 3 1/2 hours, at least.
