King Kaufman's Sports Daily

The Mavericks are hopping mad at the refs. They're also one loss away from losing to the Heat. They'd better quit complaining and work on stopping Dwyane Wade.

    Basketball thoughts

What's the alternative to prevent end-game fouls? Its just not giving the offensive team an inbound -- that's an advantage to the defense, giving them a decent shot at a turnover at the cost of a foul and a few seconds. Free throws and the ball? You've raised the cost a lot more, but still those annoying free throws are there. An undefended inbound and/or time off the clock? Hm. Maybe.

I hope the NBA keeps with the Stackhouse precendent. No attempt at the ball, and a clear shot at the body. I'd have tossed him and suspended him. The NBA doesn't need players either making or getting hurt on those plays. The question isn't "Did Shaq get hurt on that play?" The question is, "What would it have meant to the finals for Shaq to get hurt on that play?" If a series-changing injury can be had for a flagrant foul, then next time down the court Didier Ilunga-Mbenga is probably coming after Dwayne Wade and Wayne Simien is hunting for Dirk Nowtizki's head. Nevermind the loss of revenue the NBA would see.
