Easiest schedule for a winning team + no substantive injuries =
Undefeated season!
That seems to me the part of the analysis that King is missing. Last night Rothlisberger was fresh off of surgery 5 weeks (?) ago. Willie Parker, the surprise RB stud of the year was playing his first game in weeks. The Colts have had no substantive injuries this year! None!
And talk about a cakewalk season. If you ask me, this schedule was meant to serve up another Colts AFC Championship season by the league, while ensuring that they'll play in that godforsaken dome-thing all the way through the playoffs. They have beaten such juggernauts as the Browns, the 49ers, and the Cardinals! Sure, you could make a case for the Ravens, Pats or Rams being elite teams but, hindsight being 20/20 and all, its not looking like it this year. Add to this the fact that they get to play the woeful Texans and Titans twice a year AND they're toughest division rival is the Jags who start a virtual parapalegic as an RB (and now are w/o their starting QB) --- How can they NOT go undefeated?
King is right in that 2 of their toughest matchups, SD and Seattle are still to come, but c'mon. When we speak of elite teams this year SD is on the periphery and Seattle... well we've already discussed the general woefullness of the NFC enough.
