Inside the mind of Lou Dobbs

Is there anything the CNN host can't connect to his obsession with illegal immigration?

The letters thread is now closed.

Why?

Why are you giving this knob job any free publicity? Why do you acknowledge his existence? Why are you wasting the 30 seconds of our life to read this swill?

Please, if you've nothing to say, then shut up. Please.

Lou Dobbs

is a bore.

Alex..

Nice report. Really.

to ScepticalGeek...

you would be well advised to take your own advice. I'm pretty sure there's no amendment dictating that one must read every article on Salon and be satisfied with the content either.

Lou Dobbs is an idiot though, the law has never been about applying to it's absolute maximum in every situation, a reasonable approach is necessary. Anyone who has ever been let off with a "warning" can understand that, it's just not justified at times to spend half of New York's resources making sure every illegal immigrant is caught, imprisoned then deported.

@ ScepticalGeek

Right. Because obviously if no one ever responded to something said by someone who edits and anchors an hour-long show that airs every weekday evening on one of the two most-watched cable news networks in America, nobody would ever know what that person said.

My 2 cents

You know, when someone can definitively prove illegal immigrants in "sanctuary cities" are, as a group, dumb enough to wield a gun in a public space AND shoot themselves in the foot, then, yes, let's round them all up and deport them.

Moral/legal relativism? You betcha!

In other "laws are best enforced locally" news, the Supreme Court refused to hear a case out of CA instructing local police agencies to ignore federal drug laws when they conflict with the state's medical marijuana.

"One of the CNN host's favorite topics..."

You mean he has others?

Does this mean the second amendment restricts the right of NYC to not allow Burress to carry?

Does the last few paragraphs mean the second amendment restricts the ability of NYC to not allow Burress to carry?

Because the logical conclusion of your statement here is that it does. If so, then NYC violated Plexico's rights in restricting his ability to carry before he ever committed his supposed crime. For anyone who doesn't know, NYC has a strict policy of not allowing carry to anyone but connected politicos and sometimes celebrities, but I suspect black football players would have an issue getting that endorsement. Additionally, NYS has no provision for non-resident carry permits (Plexico is a FL resident) and NYC doesn't even recognize the NYS carry permit without a special endorsement, regardless if you live in the city or not.

C'mon already, we know what Dobbs means

Look, as a long time NYC resident and represented by Bloomberg, we know what Dobbs means. He is equating Burress' open hostility toward the law prohibiting handguns to an illegal immigrants' flouting the laws of the land by working and living here illegally. Its a ridiculous connection, sure, but that's the point. Koppelman knows it but he is trying to lose the reader in the details.

I work in NYC restaurants where about 25 to 30% of the workforce is illegal. NYC is full of illegal immigrants. And I am friends with people from Bangladesh, Russia, Belarus, Columbia and others. All in all, immigrants whether legal or illegal are pretty cool since they generally want to be here for a better life.

I'd rather focus on Bloomberg and his new fight - salt! Don't believe it? Look it up.

Dobbs is a jackass

And people who watch him are morons.

He's pure schtick.

Lou Dobbs

Can pack all his shit up and move the fuck back to Europe or shut his fucking pie hole.

Lou Dobbs is a complete tool.

Why CNN employs him is beyond me. He belongs over at FoxNews with the other blowhards. I can't stand to even hear his voice. He is just an angry bitter old white guy who is always stuck on the same topic. If he comes on, the tv immediately gets switched over to MSNBC.

You're not gonna make a movie or anything about it, right?

Immigration in General

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I wonder what would be the response to "illegal immigration" if they [the immigrants] were Nigerians instead of Mexicans.

Given the history of the US and their first Constitution I suspect the response would be entirely different.

While Dobbs is a buffoon he is at least somewhat more honest than a majority of Americans.

Thursday, December 4, 2008 10:34 AM

I wonder...

...if Lou Dobbs mumbles about Mexicans while he sleeps.

Thursday, December 4, 2008 02:05 PM

Mind? What Mind?

I continue to be amazed that Lou Dobbs, high lord idiot that he is, actually has both a radio and television forum for his ill-informed xenophobic rantings.

Koppelman is excusing Polygamy in NYC

An accidental fire revealed the true horror of Illegal Alien Families living in NYC. NYC has become a city out of "Bladerunner" under Mayor Bloomberg. Laws are unchecked, work rules are unregulated, safety standards are not enforced. In the Fire Case, a man, his two wives, an another woman and 22 children were trapped by fire in the small apartment where they lived. Zoning Laws are also not enforced by Bloomberg..nor Fire Regulations. .Most of the children were burned alive. One wife lived..the other did not and there was another woman in the building..wife 3? It was never determined. Bill O'Reily, another frequent Demonization target 0f the Insanely Liberal Press, was almost insane with rage. He raged that this was news one expected out of old Calcutta, Not NYC. Camera crews, interviewing neighbors, were visibly shocked to find that multiple wives were common in that neighborhood, most were living on welfare and they loved the USA. People left you alone in NYC. Yeah...we could see that. And they were All men of course.

Previously,Nina Bernstein had written an article for the New York Times that described the lives these multiple wives face in a Muslim Society that considers women to be legally half the worth of a male. Any male, any age. The older women, displaced by a younger wife were often beaten and starved. To think that in the USA, a man like Bloomberg, who if he did not know the horrors of polygamy existed in his city did then and he did nothing was not charged with a crime, to me was remarkable. And that he has supporters who mock Lou Dobbs?? And Lou Dobbs certainly did speak out about the slave like existence of those women and remarked that it was a commentary on our decadent society that it was allowed.

I also detect a prejudice against black people in this article. It is true that Lou Dobbs does have many prominent Black Scholars, Writers, Reporters and Radio Talk Show personalities on his show, and there are certain minority groups which apparently resent it. How sad.
