The state Democratic Party decides not to hold a second nominating contest.

  • Florida is truly

    America's wang.

  • The 2000 election..

The trouble with chads, Jeb Bush hiding in the bush, and now "forget the DNC rules, we'll never again be fools."

  • The DNC Must Hold Another Contest

Yes, Florida did not adhere to the rules. But disenfranchising millions of voters will hurt the Democratic nominee in the next election. The DNC must bite the bullet and fund another contest.

  • This letter explains almost nothing

I have no evidence to support this, but I would guess that the Dems in FL who have decided against doing anything are HRC supporters. No?

"Florida doesn't want to vote again."

    Huh? Why the hell not?

  • Koppleman...

Hillary Clinton won the original primary (as well as one in Michigan, which has also been sanctioned by the DNC) and her campaign has been pushing for a solution that would lead to the delegates from both states being counted.

    tr.v. sanc·tioned, sanc·tion·ing, sanc·tions

    1. To give official authorization or approval to: "The president, we are told, has sanctioned greed at the cost of compassion" (David Rankin).

    2. To encourage or tolerate by indicating approval. See Synonyms at approve.

    3. To penalize, especially for violating a moral principle or international law.

I don't know if it is bad writing or bias, well I do know (it's both) but c'mon. Let's try a little harder.

  • Phew!

I asked Spain to take them back, and they were all "¿Tiene usted un recibo?" and I was like, "I lost the receipt." And they were all, "Sorry." And I was like, "Can I get store credit at least?"

And they were like, "We have to ask the manager, do you want to wait?"

    ...So I'm glad this happened.

Split the damn delegates already and for ONCE, America, let's hold the actual people responsible - the Florida and Michigan Democratic Parties - responsible.

  • That was a very long-winded way to...

    Punt.

This makes me sick. Florida deliberately flouts the DNC rules, thinking DNC will blink. DNC doesn't blink. And Florida says, hey, you fix it.

This is just the type of thing that disgusts me about politics.

  • Florida revote

It does not matter. Obama will be the nominee. Hillary has already lost.

    Click on my screen name.

  • He who ignore the rules..

..end up uncounted as heedless fools. If any private purses want to fund a re-vote, go ahead, I'm movin' on. Some of the other 49 states don't relish suffering the heedless hubris of Florida's voting officials. They've screwed up again.

  • Bullshit

I'm from Florida and I'm mad as hell.

    Fuck them

  • I don't understand the obsession with Florida delegates

Split them 50/50, or 50/35 in Clinton's favor (which is what current polls are saying) - it'll only change the pledged delegate count by a couple dozen while Obama's over 150 ahead. MICHIGAN is the big question. They seem to have their act together for a redo, and Obama is polling well there and a new vote will likely negate whatever happens with Florida. SPLIT THEM AND LET'S MOVE ON. What's now ironic for Clinton is that once the delegates from those two states are seated, even if she comes out with a few dozen more than Obama, it will bring him up close to 2,024.

  • If the Florida delegates are not seated, and there is no re-vote, then...

...it will mitigate the damage Obama will likely take in Pennsylvania due to his running-off-at-the-mouth preacher.

Ugh. Come on, Obama, just win this already.

  • Cut Their Delegate Count …

If either Michigan or Florida is given a re-vote or their delegates are seated (and I’m not saying either should happen) then the DNC must slash the number of delegates assigned to each (Say to the level of Alaska or Wyoming, ok by half).

Giving them a re-vote AND their full delegate count will not only reward them for breaking party rules but it will also make their votes count way out of proportion than they otherwise would have.

Even worse, in 2012 we’ll see a load of states try to jump the gun and the primaries will end up starting Dec 2008. The primary season is too long as it is.

The Democrats over-reacted taking away all of Florida and Michigan’s delegates, they should have done what the Republican’s did (there's something I never thought I would type) and slashed their delegates. Instead they went nuclear and now we're in a mess.

But if they are going to choose to ignore the rules and either allow a re-vote or seat delegates then some punishment must be inflicted. I think that should be slashing their delegate count by at least half.

  • Screw Florida

Not the Floridians. Just the buttmunchers who flouted the rules and expected the DNC to bend over and take it. Now watch Billary whine about her "win" in a non-election. Same with Michigan. Of 55 jurisdictions, 53 followed the rules. 2 didn't. Take your medicine. What is it with Florida and elections? No wonder the state looks like a flaccid member that can't get excited over Cuba.

  • Like burlydee said...

The DNC didn't sanction Michigan's primary, it sanctioned it.

  • Howard Dean . . .

. . . must be demoted in disgrace at once. What a poor showing of leadership. To think that this guy had a chance at the presidency.

Our delegates must be seated as they were elected.

    1. We had a historic record turnout in Florida.

    2. Hillary not only defeated Obama, but also McCain.

    3. The election date wasn't picked by the local democrats, but by the Republican dominated local legislature, under threat of veto by the governor if any date compliant with the DNC rules was picked.

    4. Obama violated his own pledge not to campaign in FL, with a blitz of TV ads in all major cable networks.

As a Floridian my pledge is that I would vote for McCain if Obama is elected without the delegates of my state. If he is elected with the delegates of my state seated as they are I will simply not vote. Hopefully, I will not have to face either scenario and vote for Hillary Clinton as the 44th president of the United States.

  • Actions have consquences

Even for Florida. If they want someone to blame it needs to be their elected officals.

The recent nationwide SUSA poll showed how both democrats could win without Florida. Frankly I wouldn't mind seeing it's importance diminished. Maybe if candidates didn't think they had to pander to Florida we could have some sensible debate about Social Security, Medicare, and Cuba.
