  • I agree with alla youse

I think Obama should answer all pertinent questions, but I can't believe HRC is the one to ask them. You'd think someone that avoided answering so many questions about her own past scandals would want to keep clear of this. Oh well, I hope its exciting.

  • Can you take me off Clinton's Press list, Please

Is it necessary to constantly reproduce Clinton's talking points and press messages in War Room? I just don't come here for verbatim political messages -- from either candidate -- though you seem to have a heavy hand when it comes to reproducing Clinton's spin, compared to Obama's. Plus, it's a little bit misleading to mention that Rezko is being charged with bribing public officials without including a qualifier that Obama is not linked to any of the charges that Rezko faces. If you don't know that going in, this story creates the perception that Obama could be one of the officials that Rezko is charged with bribing.

  • The heck with all that

Why was Obama taking contributions from a known slumlord when he supposedly built his political reputation on helping people living in slums? This is the problem with the Clinton campaign. They get trapped in process questions instead of cutting to the heart of the matter - the question isn't whether Obama did or did not help Rezko in exchange for contributions, it is why Obama was doing business with this sleazebag at all. It's about "Judgement". If Obama's judgement is that poor, then why is he being allowed to run on a platform of having good judgement. Being right on the Iraq War is a good thing - but he should be held accountable for the things he was wrong about as well. He was also wrong on Lieberman - he supported him in spite of his cheerleading for the war, in spite of the fact that Lieberman did not respect the wishes of his Democratic constituents and leave when he was voted out. Why is an anti-war candidate supporting politicians who are preventing the end of the war?

Clinton is doing Obama a favor by bringing up Rezko now, and the media would do well to spend some time on it. If it continues to be ignored by the media now, then the right wing will have a field day with it during the election. The swift-boaters are gearing up, and this is their meat and potatoes issue.

  • ...I am His Majesty's dog at Kew

Pray sir, whose dog are you"...

  • Interesting timing

Let's find out more about this particular Federal Prosecutor, why don't we? We know targets aren't necessarily picked, based upon what they've actually DONE - but, these days, more by whom they are associated with....

  • @Flatblonde

Republican prosecuters spent $60 Million looking for something to hang around the Clinton's neck. The best they could come up with was Bill Clinton lying about receiving oral sex from an intern. How may of us could withstand that kind of scrutiny? The right wing hasn't given up, though, they keep claiming that the Clinton's are crooked.

The right did the same thing to Gore (a lot of people chose not to vote for Gore because he was "corrupt", in spite of his reputation for being a somewhat prissy Boy Scout). They also painted Kerry as a cowared, in spite of his service during Vietnam, his fellow soldiers who spoke of his bravery, and his medals. How long until the right manages to tar Obama with the same brush? He doesn't even have a Boy Scout reputation to protect him. We'd better get over the assumption that right-wing inneuendo must be based on fact, or we're never going to have another Democratic President.

  • Isn't the Obama-NAFTA-Goolsbee-Canadian consulate story a lot more interesting?

I have absolutely no problem with War Room peeking behind the Obama curtain...but wouldn't it be a lot more helpful if you would actually do some analysis on Obama's and Clinton's positions on NAFTA?

  • Where's the REST of the story??

    AK --

WOW! You've reduced the questionnable real estate transaction between Obama and Rezko to simply the purchase by Obama of a strip of land from Rezko to enlarge his back yard. That's the LEAST of the issues arising out this mess. The REAL issue is that Rezko made possible the purchase by the Obamas of their residence by having his wife purchase the adjoining lot (the seller was requiring that both parcels be sold simultaneously). The Obamas then received a $300,000 discount on the house while Rezko paid full price for the land parcel, smelling to high heaven like Rezko passed along a $300,000 benefit to Obama. This transaction has NEVER been fully scrutinized by the press for what it is -- a politician taking financial help from a real estate developer who benefited in the past and stood to benefit in the future from a favorable relationship with him.

Why Obama gets away with just saying this was a "boneheaded" move on his part is completely unexplainable!

  • Nice Pro-Clinton Editorial Timing Alex!

Boy, jury selection! That's a highly substantive news story Alex.

I'm sure you don't want that bothersome Mark Penn item to appear as the top story on War Room for too long just one day before OH and TX....

  • >yawn<

Christ, i'm bored of this garbage. We've heard it before, yadda yadda, and no incriminating connections between Obama and Rezko were found. Nothing. And they looked, oh yes they did, they really did. But that doesn't matter. The smell of a little shit and the Clinton flies start a-buzzing.

  • Read Sun Times

I suggest your read both the Chicago Tribune (a better newspaper) and the Chciag sun Times. Acording to todya;s reports Obam wil be a minor players in this trial. The focus is on the Gov of IL. and many republican players.

  • Let the chips fall, but don't assume in advance where they're going to land

I am sure the Clinton campaign would love to get everybody talking about Rezko and Obama on the day before the big votes.

The fact of the matter is, though, that Obama is not implicated in any wrongdoing in this trial.

I would love for all the facts to come out. At that time, if Obama is implicated in something illegal, I would like to know about it.

That said, speculation about what may or may not be the case is just that....speculation. And the Clinton memo makes it clear that this negative speculation is being promoted to serve their interests.

I hope everybody keeps that in mind.
