and no rumor-mongering please, everyone. My observation of the reporting on mass shootings is much of the initial information is wrong. Big aspects could be wrong. Anyone else remember the reports of Middle Eastern terrorists blowing up the Oklahoma City federal building?
So let's not speculate, divine motives, assign blame, cast suspicion, and just wait for facts.
We haven't even begun to understand the "Who", in terms of shooters or victims. Let the "why" wait. Use that mental energy to pray for the victims and their families.
there is no god.
CNN is reporting on their website at least that the shooter was a soldier.
So I'm betting that it's not 3 simultaneous cases of flipping out. Well let's just blame Glenn Beck. And Israel.
The Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld nazification of the United States military -- turning it into nothing more than a worldwide force for unmotivated aggressive war -- leads to the murder of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis/Pakistanis/Afghanis(and many, many more of those to come) -- and this clown Benjamin asks why?
Because there were no towelheads around to mass murder, that's why.
And just watch the mainstream media and the Afghan warhawks use this as some sort of justification for expanded war. (All those touching funerals -- funerals we never see when our troops die overseas.) And just watch Obie take the bait.
Which will only make some things much worse.
That's highly irregular. Might be a first.
The Radical Wrong is pushing for more of our children to be sent into harms way for a government that can't even manage an honest election. Many of the soldiers are being sent for the nth time. Meanwhile, the crowds grew in D.C to shout down the health care bill. I am left with the constant nag that the RW cares for no one but themselves.
This is one of the days where I will remember exactly what I was doing when I learned of each tragic event. It is a very sad day for this nation.
...so try to use some self-control when you post. No "clever," political, hateful comments needed.
I wonder what the public reaction will be?
well, so much for no rumor mongering...
Another soldier there said that the shooters were wearing stolen uniforms and weren't real soldiers.
Like Zorkna said... 3 simultaneous mental "break downs" isn't realistic.
Hopefully the killing/capture of the three ends it.
his ancestors were on the Mayflower...Er, or was it the Pinto...
Why the hostility? It's no rumor that CNN reported that on their website.
He was a convert.
A bit of an unfortunate coincidence for this particular individual. Also, former CEO of Health Trio (HMO) and GOP contributor.
No hostility, I was talking about my own rumor mongering in responding to the report that the shooter was a soldier.
He was in the Army Medical Corps and was just promoted to Major last May.
This is going to be so bad for moslems in the military.
Please don't let them use this as an excuse to start screening them or something.
...that within three minutes of being provided with the shooter's name, Wolf Blitzer announced - twice - that "It's an Arabic name." What an asshole.
Why wait for a motive? Let the general Muslim- and Arab-bashing begin.
Oh man This is going to be so bad for moslems in the military.
Please don't let them use this as an excuse to start screening them or something.

Especially Gay Muslims in the Miliatry...The new "Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Jihad" policy will really be a bitch...
This is going to be so bad for moslems in the military.
Oh, you think just in the military?
the NRA? If people were allowed to carry weapons on Army bases this never would have happened.
He was a psychiatrist.
Is anyone really surprised this happened? The United States absolutely lives and dies by the sword. Aggression and violence is one thing the U.S. does well. It's in our culture, it's on TV, in our media, we think it's a reasonable solution, we glorify guns and violence and ultimately we reap what we sow.
just saw his picture. Anybody remember who Abu Nidal was? Klinghoffer? Achille Lauro? Anyone remember what just happened to five British soldiers at a checkpoint in Afghanistan? So many people trying to avoid the obvious. Wonder what Greenwald will say? That it was the predictable reaction to Zionist oppression?
Yeah, No Doz, because why would we screen people being granted access up to and including nuclear weapons for problematic ideological leanings. Its not as if religions ever say certain types of violence is OK, even commanded by god, especially against unbelievers?
Note that secular psychosis is a universally accepted excuse to keep someone out of the military but being a religious fanatic is protected in America.
Any soldier (and yes I mean Christians before someone tries that tired retort) should be screened for strong religious beliefs, which may compromise loyalty or obedience.

Funny that you show up in a case about potential Islamic violence, since your namesake was often morally blind to violence and religious extremism when it came to Algeria and other post-colonial contexts.
"Let the general Muslim- and Arab-bashing begin."
Firstly I deplore anti-Arab racism, but Islam is an ideology like any other and thus open to any and all criticism. Shielding an ideology from the actions of its adherents is intellectually dishonest, usually a shallow political gesture, and because of the fear Islam instils (see the recent Yale Univ. Press decision), down-right cowardly
At least we agree that Wolf Blitzer is a fucking idiot. Camus and Sartre would have probably agreed on that as well.
