Much of what was initially reported about the mass murder at an Army post turns out to have been wrong ...

I'm shocked — shocked — to find baseless reporting in the mass media. Credit goes to Salon for treating this story with the care it deserves.

Latest reports indicate that the wannabe-shahid, a devout Muslim from birth, was shot out of commission by a woman MP. A woman! No self-sealing virgins and pearl-like little boys in Paradise for him yet, and all due to the lowliest of the low, kaffir "uncovered meat"!

But we should pay attention to the backlash we're always lectured about. And here it is:

She's obviously not Hasan, but your caption seems to indicate that she's the shooter. How is your libel insurance?

Someone can openly post anti-government rhetoric praising suicide bombers and stay in the military. Too bad he didn't post that he was gay or he would have been discharged immediately.

If the shooter is alive, we can ask questions. And possibly get some answers. It's not much of a silver lining to those who have lost someone tonight, but silver lining it is.

The person in the photograph appears to be a woman.

The shooter appears to be described as male.

I'm all for stretching of gender boundaries and everything, but since I know that the Army isn't, I'm pretty sure the picture and/or caption is wrong.

The short answer is the military is desperate for doctors.

There really is not much to know.

The problem is that the media is trying to find a bigger story than what is actually there.

A male Muslin doctor goes nuts, acts alone, kills 12 people, wounds 31 more, gets stopped by armed security (Yes, having armed security is a very good thing), and still lives.

He'll face trial, get quickly convicted, and that will be the end of the matter.

Except that the 12 people will still be dead and the nation will be grieving.

Violence is always senseless (except to the victims).

Now, this may change now...since security procedures are pretty reactionary but, As an Army Major he could have brought people on post with him, no problem, and done a lot more damage.

I only mention it, to kind of argue against any ideas that he was acting as some part of a terrorist conspiracy.

I think, and this is only speculation, that he went a banana short of a bunch. I would not rule out religious motivations having a hand in it, as emotional problems and religion dont tend to mix well to begin with.

However, I doubt this was a well calculated 'mission' or that he was part of an actual cell.

Since our military's primary mission is now the killing of Muslims who piss us off, since there is an entire sect of Islam that believes we exist only to prevent them from achieving the ascendancy Mohamed envisioned for them, and since the odds are there isn't anyone from the Middle East who hasn't lost a family member to our New Crusade (aside from Israelis), maybe it isn't such a great idea to let political correctness guide us when deciding who gets to walk around military bases unattended.

foreign policy, which is exactly the same foreign policy it has been for at least ten years, why did he join an army that enforces that foreign policy? If he was openly hostile to Amerika's involvement in the Middle East, why did he accept promotion, as has been reported? If this man has the character and intelligence to be a psychiatrist, I think I'm a banana. There are many, many people in the West who oppose Amerika's foreign policy but they don't kill others to prove their opposition.

The letters here seem to consist of nothing but complaints that, in an atmosphere of chaos, the facts aren't as crystal-clear as you would like and, before long, there will be various attempts to exculpate a man who took the lives of others to prove how much he hates the taking of lives. The Major is still alive so he can answer for himself, along with the best lawyers that money can buy.

A psychiatrist who freaks out from psychiatric drugs and is not put down is going to be a potential embarrassment for the industry.

Those who blame this on his race and religion are racist dirtbags - being harassed for his name continually be low class racist morons who can find a simple job in the military where they are immune from growing up and acting like adults may be a factor, this is really just another drug freak out of thousands of drug freak outs.

Letting this guy live is going to be an embarrassment for the Military and the Medical Profession.

Rendered or killed? Which is more likely? Certainly not a fair trial. We HATE the enemy and just look at his name. Those are the people the Military wants to kill and the politicians want to fan the fires of hate over.

No one blamed Columbine on those kid's religion. They didn't blame it on the drugs either. We blamed it on Marylyn Manson - yeah, that's the ticket, MARYLYN MANSON . . .

Let's hope Hasan was a fan of American Idol. Then we can blame them.

He was born and raised in Virginia. Maybe we should start plans to root out that corrupt government, gun culture and backward fundamentalist influence that is just across the river from our Nation's Capitol. This isn't the first mass murderer to come out of the public schools of Virginia nor will it be the last. Their State Seal endorses assassination!!!
